Positive aspects of school
"The weekly changing topics. Everything important was covered and you can easily join in every week. (I booked 3 weeks, 20+6). The teachers were all very welcoming and friendly. Also good: you can change levels during the course. The support was always excellent and there was always someone to talk to. The school is centrally located and there are lots of joint activities on offer. The group size was very pleasant."
Negative aspects
"The rooms were outdated, air conditioning didn't work or wasn't available. This summer makes learning difficult. Only one teacher used Google Classroom, although it should be standard for all teachers at the school. Otherwise, there were more or less good copies and a whiteboard in the room. There is still potential for digitalisation to make lessons more appealing. There were not enough sanitary facilities."

Positive aspects of school
"Teacher used Google classroom, she had a very integrated programme, which fostered a lot of high-level conversation. She was constantly challenging us, and at the time supporting us to try new things and expand our vocabulary. It was amazing to see a professional to see her working with students at different levels within the same group giving support and encouragement constantly. We could see the improvement. I was very impressed. Instead of spending time with formal testing, evaluation was based on our oral and written work."
Negative aspects
"There is a large classroom in the basement Foch. The lighting is poor in this room. A few floor lamps would make a big difference."

"The staff in the main office was very helpful. When I needed a doctor, they found one very quickly. They responded to the problems with lodging, and they followed up to make sure that if there was a problem it was resolved."
City/place
"I liked Montpelier, it’s a very walkable city. I spent a lot of time exploring the area between the school and thé Croix d’argent area. I felt quite safe walking home. The tram ride was quite convenient, but I preferred to walk. I didn’t do a lot of sightseeing because I was studying and I can’t go at night because I can’t see very well."
Quality of teaching / language progress
"The first week was a little intense as I came at the very end of B1. The school and the teacher were very helpful in making sure I was in the right level. It was challenging, but I think I made a lot of progress."
Accommodation
"The school needs to do a better job vetting lodgings. I had to change after one week because there was no hot water or working toilet and the quality of the breakfast was very poor. My next lodging was better. I would go back there because the person was so welcoming, especially after the difficult first week at the other location, my room was clean, …the rest of the house, not so much. For me it wasn’t a deal breaker but for someone else it might have been. The school did respond quickly to helping me move to another location."

Positive aspects of school
"The school is super centrally located and can be reached by tram. The on-site team is very well organised. All questions are answered quickly, even in English if your language skills are a little lacking. The lessons are didactically very well organised. There is a good balance of grammar, vocabulary and exercises. There are printed worksheets and also slides via projector. The teaching materials are still available to me for revision after the course. The city of Montpellier is a very good destination. It is a pleasant size, so you can get a good overview of the city after a few days and at the same time there is always something going on. For the weekend: The Mediterranean Sea is not far away."
Negative aspects
"I had classes mainly in the afternoon, which took some time to get used to. In the group sessions, I had many Mexican students who were there for the student exchange. As they went to a regular school in the mornings and were still comparatively young (around 18 years old), concentration and motivation were very slow in the afternoons and only improved over time."

City/place
"Montpellier is a top city. It is the right size. The city centre is mostly car-free or almost car-free. So it's great for pedestrians. There are many old buildings and small winding streets to discover. The people have all been really friendly and helpful, even with very little knowledge of French (A1). Food and drink can be found in all price ranges, even for those on a tight budget (student city). The Mediterranean is not far away. The Cévennes are also recommended for a 2-day trip at the weekend. There are also organised day trips at weekends. The language school itself offers 1-2 activities per day, but depending on the time of the course, you can't always take part in all of them. For those who don't like the summer heat, I can recommend October."
Quality of teaching / language progress
"30 sessions as educational leave are quite demanding with preparation and follow-up of about 1-2 hours per day. But it was fun because I noticed the progress after one week."
Accommodation
"The host family was typically French. Everything was simple. You shouldn't expect too much here. You have a room to yourself, and I shared the bathroom with an exchange student who also lived with the family. I would rate the hygiene as okay to marginal. In the 2 weeks I was there, the bathroom and toilet were definitely not cleaned. The food was good. Towels and bed linen are provided. It was a bit of a shame that I lived slightly outside the city centre. However, many others lived right in the city centre. It was possible to change host families if something didn't fit."

"Lydia complained to me a lot about the second flatmate, which annoyed me quite a bit over time. I had no problem with this roommate! As soon as I set foot in the flat, it often started. Tina had just started French. To get to know each other, we spoke English. That was not allowed. So for a week we just said "good morning" etc. and each went to her room. Also, there is no dining room table, so I always ate alone in my room. Or, if Lydia has been talking a lot, standing up in the kitchen out of politeness. Besides, I don't need to be told how to learn a language by someone who only knows the mother tongue himself. There were no big things, but some little things all the time - at the same time, Lydia made a great effort. Four weeks were still enough."

"The school is in the city centre and is well organised. There is also a tram stop nearby.
The teachers are good and helpful, the lessons interesting.
The environment is very friendly and the students come from all over the world (many from Germany and England).
Essential to get to know the people is the city tour on the first day."
Negative aspects
"The students are divided into several schools located in different places in the city (all in the centre, however).
There is no common place to meet everyone.
The school organises some activities (but not too interesting) and many excursions, but all of them cost 40€."

"You have to work hard. The teachers (m/f) teach excellently. The program is also very good, but the basic program is also intensive."
Negative aspects
"I found the intensive program in the afternoon less strong than the basic program in the morning. You are forced to speak and that is very good. But the level of the different students (9 to 10) is too different. As a result, the end effect is not good enough for me. I also did this course a few years ago and then I also noticed this negative effect. Furthermore, the classrooms are sometimes very cramped for the number of students crammed into them. I was in Montpellier at a time when it was very hot. The combination of cramped classrooms (with my wife, but not with me) and often no air conditioning in the basic lessons and fans that sounded above speaking level (with my wife) made the course even more tiring. It is also difficult that the platform with the supporting exercises is aimed at laptops and computers. I couldn't use my android tablet and phone properly for certain exercises."

Quality of teaching / language progress
"Awesome experience. LSF is one of the best-organized schools in Montpellier. Compared to the school of my conference, LSF gave a lot more homework (that's a good thing!) And more indications. They also have an online platform which is really useful and fun, where you can find standard exercises but also interesting videos to practice listening comprehension, and links to movies or video games in French. The teachers I had were all very open and inclusive, and I found the learning strategies very modern and interesting (for example, when we did meditation in class to discuss wellness).
Specifically on the DALF race, I was the only one, so I was able to focus on the oral and we did an oral test each lesson (it is likely that this would change in a larger class).
The only thing I have to say is that maybe there isn't enough focus on vocabulary, because for that I had to upload a big list of yours. .com, but other than that all good."

Accommodation
"The rooms at Residence Carre Roi are spacious, modern and clean. Unfortunately, I was unlucky that I got the room that I thought had the worst location (directly opposite the entrance gate on the ground floor, no window, only glass door, large floor-to-ceiling window in the bathroom and right next to the toilet, etc.). Unfortunately, there was no other free room and I moved to the Residence Observatoire. The Residence Observatoire is right in the old town (so better located), the rooms are smaller and a bit more "shabby". Nevertheless, I would give it a total of 4 stars (location 5, room 3)."

"In our week and due to the lack of free time due to the bad planning, we saw little of Montpellier."
Quality of teaching / language progress
"Unfortunately, I was placed in the lower wrong group. After comments I could not be placed in a higher group because this only other group was full. It would have been better to give me a choice in advance whether or not to participate in a course that is too low. Afterwards I did receive a free private lesson as compensation. Furthermore, my wife had booked the cooking course that would take place at the same time as my intensive course. In the end this was not possible and my wife took the cooking course when I was free and vice versa. As a result, no free time was available at the times that we had planned. Our conclusion was that people were less inclined to courses by two partners or friends and that the organization really needs improvement in that respect."
Accommodation

Positive aspects of school
"The small classes, the teachers, other students, everyone spoke French, so I couldn't easily speak English."
Negative aspects
"1. The order of the lessons was wrong. When I arrived, I was placed in level A2 week 7 where the students were in the last week of A2 studying political opinions from radio interviews which were really difficult because I was expected to fully know my verb tenses and vocabulary. Then the second week, we reviewed the difference between passé composé and l'imparfait, skills that I needed in week one. In my last week, where I was placed into B1, we started from the beginning with the difference between passé composé and l'imparafait, which I had just reviewed in week 2.
2. The error on my schedule was never changed for the three weeks I was there even though I showed them on the first day."

"For a Spaniard with an average salary, studying at lsf is expensive. On the other hand, even if you are in Montpellier, if you want to rent a studio through the school, they do not let you see it in advance, you just pay directly. Focused on business, but they work well thanks to the young students and the good atmosphere among teachers. It is a better option for those without money restrictions. If you decide to book lsf, I recommend you to find your own accommodation (eg. RBnb) and visit the apartment beforehand."
