"Small, well-organised school in a beautiful location. Small groups. Teaching good to very good. Nice and always helpful staff. Nice terraces for the coffee breaks."

"The school is very acoustically sensitive. You could hardly concentrate on your lessons in some rooms because you could often hear loud noises, conversations or laughter from the staff in the neighbouring offices. Unfortunately, it wasn't turned off when I asked, which was a shame. I missed a feedback meeting on the last day."

"It's a bit old school in terms of the curriculum there. Grammar and tests are considered very important. At times I felt reminded of very old school methods. It was better in the afternoon. The course was advertised as "fluency".
But if you hadn't booked this, you were actually cramming grammar the whole time....."

"The best thing about the school was the location, size and service. Placement - quiet and beautiful surroundings, perfect setting for learning. Size - few students in each class, quickly became acquainted with other students, incredibly good environment, as a family. Service - incredibly helpful, was always greeted with a smile, one got the impression that "everything" could be solved. Impressed with how they solve that we as students enter the class with such different backgrounds / skills, as well as the duration of how long they have been going to school. Some one week others for 6 months."

"The teachers practice very different pedagogy, so it has been an advantage that I have had three weeks with teachers during this period, but I would prefer a more uniform practice. Some teachers give little (or no) feedback when we say wrong, some (one) teacher also gives little room for active participation / interactivity. While others are very good at motivating, including and correcting. I personally learn very little from listening and/or continuing to use the wrong words or statements. That is why I have chosen to continue with private lessons."

"If they are going to go to school over a longer period (more than 3 weeks), I recommend that they book only for a few weeks to get to know their own level and needs, and then book the type of teaching that best suits them for the remaining weeks."

"Perceived as safe, rural, peaceful/calm, friendly and helpful people. Short walk to "everything" (walks, eateries, beaches, ferry to Malta etc.). Gozo has everything you need. The climate was perfect the first few weeks, the last period it has been surprisingly cold - windy, rainy and the degrees have dropped to 12-14 degrees."

"Deciding on BELS, it is worth considering that it is a small school, located off the beaten track - difficult communication with the rest of the island, everywhere far away. The school is mainly selected by people aged 40+ and its organization seems to be adapted primarily to the needs of this age group. Unfortunately, the level of classes is not adapted to the actual skills of the student (although the school is doing a test earlier). Teachers have no experience and competence (very young people). No extracurricular activities, despite the fact that the website is strongly promoted."

"The teachers are great, as well as all the staff of the school. They are always friendly and helpful. Teachers try to explain everything in a way that it is clear to everyone, give advice on where to go in your free time."

"Pay attention to the school location. The bus goes only once per hour and therefore it is better to choose accommodation near the school or to rent a car. I chose not to use the bus and walked from the apartment I rented on my own. It took about 40 minutes, but the beautiful weather and amazing views along the way made the time pleasant."

"I was living in the Country Side Residence which is situated not far from the school. It is a significant advantage because I could get to the school on foot. It took me 10-15 min. If you live in the Sea Side Residence or in the Town Side Residence you need a bus to get to the school. There are no direct buses to the school. If you don't live in Victoria (the Town Side Residence is situated in Victoria) you need a bus from your town to Victoria and a bus from Victoria to Kercem. And than you need 10-15 min to get to the school on foot. Another solution is to rent a vehicle. The Country Side Residence is a very good hotel. It is a two floor building with three rooms on each floor. There are 2 bathrooms, 1 bathroom on each floor. The kitchen is common. Please note that in Kercem all shops and restaurants are closed from 12 till 16 o'clock and they are Also closed the whole day on Sundays. Lessons are based on Oxford book. You need to do a level test and then you will be assigned to a group corresponding to your level. You can change the group if you want to. The tasks in the book imply the discussion between students. The exercises are always aimed at practising vocabulary or grammar. Therefore, improvment of your speaking skills is the main idea of lessons. I recommend to book private lessons. It is a very effective way of learning."

"Bring your European Health Card, you never know if you are going to need it. I needed it and the attention at the hospital was outstanding even without a card. After you come back, it is more difficult to get it."

"Extremely friendly staff, except for one person unfortuntelly. Several students had unpleasant moments with her. Her personality discouraged everyone. Unless you spoke English fluently, she almost shputed at you. A shame, really. In my case, I requested to take my classes in the afternoon and I'm still waiting for an answer (and who dares ask again!!). I asked her about the insurance I requested when I had a problem, and she told me to sort myself out. The rest of the staff was outstanding, and their help was very important."
