- Class time is shorter than in other schools at 45 minutes per lesson.
Location: The Language Institute (TLI) English School Edinburgh is located in the historic and popular capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh. Students can look forward to a thoroughly engaging experience that combines learning with culture. The school is housed in the Nautical House in Leith, a buzzing and popular port district to the north of Edinburgh city centre. The area is ripe with engaging and youthful shops and coffee shops, and several attractions such as the Ocean Terminal shopping centre, the Kitchen fine dining restaurant, Leith Theatre and more. Edinburgh city centre's Waverley Station is around a 30-minute journey via public transport or a 15-minute taxi from the school.
Course structure: Edinburgh’s Language Institute offers extensive education in the English language tailored for the goals students aim to achieve. The institute’s programmes are geared toward learning the language for academic excellence as well as professional objectives. The Language Institute also offers Business English and Exam Preparation programmes (IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE).
Accommodation: When it comes to lodging, students have readily available homestay options with local families with various meal plans available.
Social activities: Being Scotland’s capital Edinburgh has a lot to offer, from art festivals to having the most restaurants per head. Students have tons of things to do and see including free walking tours along picturesque places and Scottish dance events. The Language School also organizes paid events and trips that encourage socializing and improving understanding of the language while combining entertainment and fun.

Way of teaching: competent, trustworthy and friendly; in only a week I improved my English a lot. They have private lessons and the teachers try to find the best way to help you specifically. The school is in an old building, very nice, they have a kitchen where you could have break and lunch and a small garden too."

The quality of teaching / academic success - I don’t know how to teach in other schools, so the score is lower. In general, there are no complaints about the quality of training. Attentive teachers, not boring, every day a new topic.
Tip: for a short period (up to 3 weeks) do not drive with a level below pree-Int, Pull up your level or take from 4 weeks. And it’s better to take intensive courses, it’s more profitable and more useful.
I warn you that the school does not have systematic grammar training, so if you are waiting for training, as in Russian schools, then do not wait)) But this is expected.
There were 2 Russian speakers in my class, besides me. Although many speak one hundred in Scotland, Russian schools do not often meet

I asked for an explanation and was told that the "advanced English" class they had abolished it due to lack of teachers and students so they had thought of putting me in the lower class by dedicating adequate teaching to me. So then it was repeated even after a week, probably the teachers were dividing up the students to make more money. In fact my English got much worse, I had to try to understand and be understood by beginners so only use simple sentences and words.
Second we had an Italian-English teacher and when she could she would try to speak to us in Italian to practice her of the language. Third just this teacher lacked teaching method, the hour passed with silly games just to learn how to ask the first questions. The second teacher was excellent.”

During the high season (summer) the organization failed a little bit, and classrooms were so small for so many people, but it lasted just a couple of weeks, the rest of the time was perfect. A very friendly atmosphere, great teachers, and great people heading the school.

Other comments: Study room without a possibility to air it (impossible to open the windows and there is no air-con). In the summer, even when it's cloudy, it's unbearable.
On top of that there was always a large group of students just on the other side of the door by the wall who talked very loudly. It does not help to think or to focus on studying.
Apart from that, it would be much better if there weren't such big age differences in the same student group (between 12 and 49 y.o.) it would be better for adults to have a separate group. But the latter is not so important.

Quality of teaching / language progress: It was my 4th English course in the UK. At last this is my best .
Way of teaching: competent, trustworthy and friendly; in only a week I improved my English a lot. They have private lessons and the teachers try to find the best way to help you specifically. I was there during eastern holidays and it's the best period if you prefer to meet adult people from all the world. The school is in an old building, very nice, they have a kitchen where you could have break and lunch and a small garden too.

“The teachers and the other employees were super nice and taking the coures was a lot of fun. Since it was January, there was, unfortunately, no leisure program, but there was a good network among the students. The chairs with a foldable writing surface should be replaced; they are too small, grubby and the writing surfaces are no longer even. I missed a canteen, but the school size probably doesn't allow it. Overall, however, recommendable and if I manage, I'll be happy to become a repeat offender.”
