Location: LSI in New York is situated in the lower district of Manhattan. The area around the school is full of the hustle and bustle of New York, with numerous restaurants, bars, shops, hotels and cafes.

Getting around: There are many subway stations close to the school, which stretch across the city. The World Trade Centre Train Station is a 5-minute walk from LSI. There are lines from here that cross into New Jersey and Newark. There are ferry terminals within walking distance from the school for trips to Staten Island, Governors Island and other places along the coast.

Major attractions: The Empire State Building, Times Square and the Museum of Modern Art are around 25 minutes by public transportation from LSI. Central Park is 30 minutes from a number of subway stations from around the vicinity of the school. LSI is 15 minutes by foot from the important monument within the city, Brooklyn Bridge.

Course structure: There are a wide variety of general English courses that are solely group classes as well as combination courses which blend group and private classes. Programmes have been created for specific careers including business, teaching, law and the medical field. These courses hone in on the English language used within these business environments. LSI has preparation courses for the Cambridge exams, IELTS exam, TOEIC exam, TOEFL exam as well as the GMAT and SAT exams. An Academic Programme has been created to help students to enter into higher education.

School building: The building in which the school is located was designed by the same architecture who created the Grand Central Station. Inside students have access to a lounge, modern classrooms, free wifi and a selection of student computers.

After a placement test on the first day, the class started at 11 a.m. A unit is worked through every week and the teachers are happy to provide information outside of the box. The togetherness in the class was pleasant. At the end of two weeks I go complete my course with an improvement in my language and new friends.”
