Location: The school is located across the River Limmat from the city centre. It is a few streets back from the edge of Lake Zurichsee. The school is in a built up part of the capital city, surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Getting around: LSI in Zurich is around 25 minutes by foot from the centre of the city. A short walk from the school is the transit station called Kreuzplatz. From here students have the choice to take a tram, city train or bus to navigate the city. There is a closer, smaller transportation station with both a tram line and regular bus routes.

Main city features: Zurich has many sights to see, and LSI is in a good location to visit all of them. The Kunsthaus Zürich and Grossmünster are on the same side of the river to the school and easily accessible by foot. Fraumünster Church and Zurich’s main street, Bahnhofstrasse are on the other side of the school. These are still close enough to walk to, or alternatively public transportation links reach both in around ten minutes.

Course structure: The school teaches general German courses in groups, private classes or as a combination of the two. LSI also teaches exam preparation courses for those wanting to take the Goethe-Zertifikat.

School facilities: In the school building, students have access to a TV room, student lounge, coffee machine, computers and microwave. There is wifi throughout the school.

Social activities: During the summer months, from June to September, LSI provides students with one weekly activity that all students from all levels can join. This ranges from volleyball, open air cinema to a bar tour. There is one monthly activity from October through to May.

Chain school: As a group, Language Studies International (LSI) has schools located in 7 countries throughout the world. These countries include France, the USA, England, New Zealand, Switzerland and Canada.

For over 55 years, LSI has been supplying tuition to adults, juniors and teachers. Their schools are accredited internationally by such accreditors as EAQUALS, Accet, the British Council, English New Zealand, Languages Canada, and more.

Other comments: The information and service from the consultant and school are very good! When I had a question, they soon gave me all the information I was looking for. It was possible to switch to another level group. The teachers are very nice and they take time when you have a question. I was there for only one week but if I should have had more time I certainly would have taken more lessons. It was a very nice week!!!!!rnthanx!

Generally, course material has to be purchased by all students at the school. The costs of course material will be approximately CHF 15 per week.
Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 110 CHF. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

What materials does the LSI work with in Zurich? Is the content in standard German or with a focus on Swiss culture and language?
“We do not work with Swiss German books as Swiss German is the dialect spoken in the German part of Switzerland. The official language and what can be found written everywhere is high German. The course book we are currently working with for level A1 is from the publisher Hueber and called Delfin. It's all in high German.”

Can my 14-year-old daughter Natalia take part in the language course?
“Unfortunately, the minimum age to attend our courses is 16 years old. Therefore, we are unable to offer Natalia a suitable course since she is only 14. The minimum age applies to our private lessons and group lessons. We have made exception for 15 year olds but only, if there is family or friends of the family living in the region of Zurich willing to take responsibility. Fourteen, though, is too young.”

I would like to book the Afternoon 10 for 4 weeks, but I don't know any German, I am an absolute beginner.
“Please note that this will not be possible. Absolute beginners can only attend the General 20 course. The Afternoon 10 course is for students with a minimum A2 level. The reason for this is that the focus is on improving fluency skills and, therefore, students should already speak some of the language.”
