Loved it! For me, it was my first step to learning Italian. It won't be my last!
City/place
Went to the Siena opera 5 times. Can’t really speak to the nightlife other than that.
Quality of teaching / language progress
The only suggestion is that the school might consider giving students an expectation of minimal knowledge. Coming in as a total beginner makes the first two weeks a bit challenging
Accommodation
Even had two cooking classes with my hosts!!

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
I had been to other language schools before and knew that at 10am Italians usually go for coffee in a local bar. The school in Sienna left you to your own devices in the morning break but fortunately I knew to ask where can we go for coffee.
Other comments
The teaching was good and generally the school was good enough. I was disappointed in the accommodation and it took a bit of effort to cope with a rather difficult host.

The special kindness and helpfulness of all employees. The very competent teachers, the lively and versatile group lessons and the enormously fruitful individual lessons. Also the leisure offer was always very interesting and carried out by great people.
Negative aspects
The chairs are unfortunately extremely uncomfortable and especially in the cool season ice cold, that you almost catch a bladder infection.

As a complete beginner, I found it hard to keep up with the speedy progress of the class, amidst more advanced students. Also, I found it hard to do any revision or study, because I was just visiting for a few days and was primarily interested in seeing some of the city while I had any free time. Perhaps, smaller more experience based classes might be better, or a class for short term tourists who would like a bit of conversational Italian? Otherwise, I enjoyed the class and social interaction, thanks for all.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The teacher changed for the last 2 days of my 2nd week (due to unavoidable contractual reasons apparently) but this was not good for continuity and level of teaching.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Take advantage of the activities offered (some of which are free) and stay with a host family to practise the language outside of class.
Other comments
The acoustics in the classrooms are poor. There is a lot of echo and boom and this made listening activities a challenge. The building is old but some simple and inexpensive modifications could be made to combat these problems. I think this is important particularly for more mature students who may already struggle with some minor hearing difficulties.

I liked the teachers best. The classroom acoustics were very poor, and the class was a bit too large with nine students, and there was no particular time put aside to talk to the teacher individually about specific problems or questions.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
The tours of the city were particularly helpful. The tours outside the city were unavailable to us because they came on days that we were not there. Any teacher lead tours should be pursued.
Other comments
Although the staff was very helpful there was just not enough time with the teachers and the class size was slightly too large.
