Taking ECA and MSA as a beginner gets confusing. Maybe consider starting with MSA for a couple of levels and then taking ECA once you have a base.

It can be an idea NOT to study spoken (ECA) and written (MSA) Arabic at the same time. The two are easy to confuce with each other in the beginners level at least.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Make sure you visit Al Azhar Park near the Citadel. Be sure to take at least one of the organized trips--a little pricey, but definitely worth the expense, largely due to the great guides and very safe driver. Also, you really need to get involved in the community somehow to improve your Arabic, so get out and meet some locals. Gals, be sure never to start a conversation or look at local men you don't know and avoid the front seat of taxis. Western women (especially blondes) should be prepared for verbal harrassment throughtout your stay--try to tune it out and get away from Cairo for some relief.
Other comments
Good program for any level: whether you're taking one week or six months, they have a program for you and you'll get to meet people you can travel with. The pace of the colloquial class may be a little slow for lanquage afficionados, but you can always ask for a more advanced class. Each class is only 4-5 weeks, so if you have a concern, speak up--the staff is ready and willing to accomodate your specific needs.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Caution should be given to students taking accomodation through the school. A fee equivilent to 30% months rent was charged as a "finders" fee. This was never mentioned before.

I think the teaching methology has room for improvement, but this seems typical for all arabic language schools from others I've spoken with.

They were very good in helping us to get settled.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Make sure everything on your rental agreement is in writing. Don't let them charge you extra for having a roommate. Our Landlord wanted 1000 LE extra for each additional roomate above the asking price for the apartment. The school told us this was not right and we did not have to pay the extra money, and they talked to the landlord for us about this matter. However, the landlord still pressured us for the extra money. Just remain firm and stand your ground.
Other comments
The classes are very small and there are many oportunities to practice speech and pronunciation. However, it did seem to be some kind of a gap in learning between the different levels.
