Intensive Course
Bologna
The Intensive Course consists of 25 lessons of 45 minutes per week in a group (23 lessons in the classroom plus 2 lessons for the test and curricular exercises). The courses are convenient in cost-benefit. Practical communication courses enable students to reach a solid grasp of the language in a short time. You learn to use the Italian language, how to speak and understand, as well as to read and write.
The first part of the Italian lesson is devoted to the language structure, the use of grammar and vocabulary. The second part of the lesson is dedicated to Italian language expression and communication. This second part of the lesson is most effective when done in Italy where the total immersion creates the necessity to understand and to be understood in Italian. Learning just grammar and vocabulary can be done without ever coming to Italy.
**Class schedule**
Intensive Italian language courses are held in the morning from 9:00 to 12:20, or from 10:50 to 14:10, or in the afternoon from 12:40 to 15:50, all with 20-minute coffee breaks.
One afternoon conversation lesson is provided once a week for all levels. Language classes are usually in the morning, in order to help the students’ concentration. Lower level classes are in the morning, intermediate and higher classes are in the late morning or afternoon. Less concentration, but more sleep in the morning!
**After the lessons**
After classes there is a programme of visits, walks, meetings, aperitivos and events all around the city enabling students to meet and chat with Italian people outside of school.

Each Koinè school also offers a varied program of social and cultural activities in the afternoon, including effective insights into the Italian way of life.
To all those students who can spend several months in Italy and give solid foundation to their language skills while improving the knowledge of the Italian culture, the school offers a 3, 6, 9 or 12 months program in the frame of the Italian Language and Culture Course.

Standard Course
Bologna
One of the most appealing features of the Standard course option is that the total number of students per class is a maximum of 8, and in many cases there are less students than the maximum permitted. This allows every learner to participate easily in their lessons, without feeling overwhelmed, and also allows the teaching staff at Academya Lingue to get to know every student and their needs.
There are two parts to every class, with the first part being concerned with the more formal aspects of learning a language, such as grammar and vocabulary. The other part is more oriented towards Italian culture, current events, and related topics. During the break time for the lessons, the teacher and students go to a local cafe together, which is a fun opportunity to speak in Italian with the other customers taking their morning coffee.
The classes are few in number and the average number of students for each class is around 4-8. The small class size guarantees special attention for each student’s individual needs, and enables teachers to get to know their students as individuals and facilitates friendly relationships.
The daily Italian lessons consists of two parts: the first part of the lesson is mainly focused on grammatical structure and vocabulary, whereas the second part is dedicated to the use of the Italian language (speaking, reading, listening and writing), focusing on expression and communication (current events, Italian culture, lifestyle, and other topics of interest will be discussed during this part of the lesson).
The course has a mid-morning break when students and teachers go to a coffee-bar together: a wonderful chance to practice Italian with the locals, have a chat and get to know each other better.

Lingua General Italian Course
Alghero (Sardinia)
old town Alghero
LINGUA group classes are offered from April to the end of October. During the other months, they need to be specifically confirmed.
Please note that the "Lingua" group courses for adults may take place in the afternoon between 15:30 and 19:30 in the following weeks:
25.06-29.06
08.07-19.07
14.10-18.10
The heart of Centro Mediterraneo Pintadera’s Italian program is the Lingua group language course with maximum 8 students per class.
The lessons are normally divided into two parts with a different teacher guiding each segment. The first part emphasizes Italian grammar and structure. The second part focuses on the application and exercise of these linguistic rules in real life settings.
They do not employ standard Italian textbooks but instead produce their own class and take-home materials which are modified to the particular interests, abilities and needs of the group. This method has proven most effective in teaching adults who come to them from different backgrounds and who respond most favorably when treated in a way that is personally significant.
Centro Mediterraneo Pintadera offers three basic levels of Italian proficiency: Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Absolute beginner classes generally begin the first Monday of every month. Intermediate and Advanced learners may start on any Monday, and depending on student circumstances, may enjoy the liberty of beginning on other days.
Should only two students enroll in a group language course (Lingua A, B, C) the weekly hours would be reduced from 20 to 15. Should there only be one student, the hours would be reduced to 10 per week.

Group Course
Montepulciano
The Standard course is ideal for those who want to learn the Italian language on a morning schedule, in the company of other students, in groups that are guaranteed to be a maximum of just 9 students. You will be assigned to a group that’s appropriately challenging for your current level of Italian - ranging from beginner to advanced. In terms of the content of the lessons, the teachers combine the study of language, culture and current affairs to deliver classes that are educational and engaging at the same time.
The course consists of four hours (50 minutes each) of group classes (Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 13:00, with two breaks). Two teachers work with each group, who will alternate between one another. Since every teacher inevitably has a slightly different style of teaching, you’ll benefit from the variety - particularly when it comes to tuning your ear to more than one person when you’re listening to Italian speakers.
The principal objective of our Italian language courses is to get our students, even those in the beginner and elementary levels, to the point where they're able to communicate in Italian. How do we do this? We believe that the knowledge of grammatical structures and vocabulary are important, yet we know that they aren't enough in themselves. Students can be well versed in the rules of the Italian language without being able to speak it.
When we communicate in Italian, we use language to exercise certain functions, such as asking, answering, discussing, promising etc. In addition, we exercise these functions within a socio-cultural context. These are the two fundamental elements that make for effective communication, and it is through the interaction between two speakers, or a writer and a reader, that the meaning of a communication becomes clear.

Your experience will start with a tour to get to know the school and the staff. You will then discover the city with an instructor-led walking tour and, in the following weeks, you will have the opportunity to learn more about other aspects of Italian culture: a night out to a local pizzeria, lessons on art and Florentine museums, a masterclass on opera, an Italian wine tasting, a show at the Opera Theater or another venue in Florence, and Italian language activities. Every month, our courses will end with a concert by our Music and Opera students and instructors.

Standard
Genoa
The Standard course has something to offer students of the Italian language no matter what their level might be since groups are divided from Beginner (A1), all the way up to Expert (C2). As the approach taken on this course is general in nature, you will cover all the skills related to reading, listening, speaking, grammar, and so on.
Lessons run from Monday to Friday, with 20 taking place per week - 50 minutes each. If you have some level of Italian already, then it’s possible to start this course on almost any Monday of the year. Those who would describe themselves as absolute beginners can start the course once per month.
You will be asked to take a placement test after signing up, in order to assign you to your initial group level.
Groups are heterogeneous, multilingual, and small: this helps ensure the students are given personal attention and the opportunity for self-expression.
The communicative method allows students to express themselves in Italian from the very first moment: the use of techniques like role-playing and real-life situations simulated in class enables our students to work in an entertaining and always relaxing atmosphere, an essential requirement to express themselves in a spontaneous way.
For those who need to go through a level and face the following one, we suggest an avarage period of 4/6 weeks of study, though we do not ask for any minimal specific lenght.
The school provides students with
- all books and teaching materials
- a free conversation class in the afternoon
- teacher/tutor to understand and solve any issue you may have during the course
- final certificate of attendance

Intensive Course
Florence
The Intensive Italian course from Scuola Leonardo da Vinci is the main offering among their programme options and involves taking 4 classes every day (20 per week). Most of the lessons’ focus is directed towards verbal communication, meaning you will spend a significant amount of time speaking in class and resolving any issues you have with pronunciation or listening skills. Even so, the elements of Italian language study that are related to vocabulary and grammar are still given their due importance.
This academy believes that play is just as important as work, and for that reason, they organise extracurricular activities for students to enjoy in the afternoons and evenings. These might involve taking day trips to museums, wine cellars, cultural discussion groups, and more. Through these activities, the school wants to show you that learning a language is much more than just learning in the classroom, and instead is all about having fun using your new or expanding knowledge of the language.
The intensive Italian language course is the standard course led by qualified teachers, who are passionate about their work.
Lessons are principally based on spoken communication, but also deal with the more formal aspects of the language (lexis/vocabulary and grammar). Lots of time is dedicated to activities that encourage dialogue and discussion about various topics, from art and literature to modern city culture.
The teachers use not only these textbooks, but also other support materials (newspaper articles, songs, films and other authentic material from everyday life) to give students the opportunity to engage with different forms of contemporary communication and to improve their communication abilities.
The golden rule is: the teacher is the director, but the group of students are the real protagonists of the lessons.
Apart from studying the language, there is still lots of time for culture, sport and fun! The school organizes loads of extracurricular activities in the afternoons and evenings, allowing students to discover the city, visit museums and exhibitions and to enjoy daily life!

Intensive Course
Milan
Crocetta - Duomo
The Intensive Italian course from Scuola Leanardo da Vinci at their Milan location offers learners the chance to level up their Italian language skills through 20 professionally prepared lessons every week. The classes take place every weekday, and have a maximum of 14 participants per group - so you won’t be overwhelmed by large groups, and instead find yourself in a medium-size format that allows you to participate easily.
A preference is given to conversation practice, but even so, you can expect to be exposed to significant amounts of material and activities that are designed to work on your reading, writing, listening, and vocabulary expansion.
The course does use a coursebook, and this will be included in the fees you pay while signing up. Your teachers at this school will make use of a variety of activities to make their classes as engaging as possible - so you will not simply be working from the book.
Every group is invited to take part in extracurricular activities in Milian, usually in the afternoons or evenings. These outings are intended to get students out in the real world having fun while using and improving their Italian language skills.
It consists of 4 Italian lessons a day, totaling 20 lessons a week. The lessons are mainly based on spoken communication, but also deal with the more formal aspects of the language (lexis/vocabulary and grammar). Lots of time is dedicated to activities that encourage dialogue and discussion about various topics, from art and literature, to modern city culture.
It is recommended for those students who want to either start or continue studying Italian, since this is an intensive programme that still leaves plenty of time to discover the artistic and historic parts of the city, and also to have some fun.

General Course
Pisa
The General Italian course is organised and divided into two broad parts, to ensure that each is given adequate attention during students’ 20 weekly lessons. The first part is concerned with elements of Italian related to using grammar accurately, and learning to understand the logic of how the language is structured - meanwhile, the second part is reserved mainly for speaking activities that are designed to make students improve their practical communication skills.
A constant theme of all lessons, and in particular the communication sessions, is Italian culture. This aspect of the course will add a new dimension to your language training, as you’ll learn about social attitudes in Italy, as well as topics related to politics and current events.
Each lesson lasts for 55 minutes and takes place between 09:00 and 13:00.
Visa application fee: EUR 350
The course is in the morning from 9:00 to 13:00The General Italian course covers many bases, and is structured essentially in two parts:
The first part centres primarily around the study and analysis of Italian grammar, and the structural elements of the language.
After the teacher has guided the class through a topic, the students consolidate their learning through exercises, done both in class and at home.
The second part consists of activities that develop communication skills, encouraging students’ written and spoken expression.
Through games, role play, reading, discussions, listening exercises, songs, films, short compositions and dictations, mother-tongue Italian teachers, all of whom are qualified in the teaching of Italian to foreigners, guide students towards a global understanding of the Italian language.

Whether in the free time this course affords you, or through the extracurricular activities organised by the school, you’ll be able to spend plenty of time using your rapidly improving Italian language skills out and about in Rome.
Students are expected to do most of the talking in class, rather than the traditional method of constant teacher instruction. Instead, the teacher is there to guide the class through interactive and engaging activities. One of the most important skills in learning a second language is not being embarrassed to make mistakes, and with students leading the way in these courses, you’ll be able to build that confidence.
Even so, students can still expect to cover a reasonable amount of content concerning grammar and vocabulary.
By attending the Intensive Course at StudioItalia, international students have 4 lessons of Italian language lessons per day, so as to ensure a consistent practice of the Italian language as well as to create a strong relationship between teachers and students. The Italian Lessons are student-centered, which means that students are the focus of the lesson and speak more than teachers, who supervise, give insight and food for thought. Students quickly get used to taking risks in speaking and overcoming fears of making mistakes in public. Topics are chosen in relation to everyday situations so that students are more motivated and willing to learn.

Apart from all this, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities, allowing you to make new connections with your peers while using and improving your Italian.
It consists of 4 Italian lessons a day, totaling 20 lessons a week. Intensive (20)
Rome
Termini - Castro Pretorio
There is a group that corresponds with your current level of Italian, and the academy’s free placement test is intended to make sure that you are assigned to a group that will neither be too easy nor too difficult for where you are right now. The Intensive course consists of 20 lessons every week, at 45 minutes each.
You will be able to jump into the course on practically any Monday of the year unless you are an absolute beginner, in which case there are openings for new spots fortnightly.
The method of tuition uses a coursebook, and this has to be paid for separately once you are at the school. Your tuition fees cover the costs of social activities organised by your teachers for you and your group, except in cases where there are significant costs such as eating out or attending the theatre.
In the **Intensive 20** course, language is never presented out of context; and grammar, phonology, lexis and all other features of actual language use in everyday situations are analysed.
A wide variety of up-to-date authentic material is used in class, thus giving students valuable information about modern-day Italian culture and society at the same time as developing students’ authentic linguistic and communicative skills.

Q&A - Questions and answers about Italy
- Do you offer Italian course in Brescia?“At the time being we do not have a partner school in Brescia.”Sawsan Zein, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 25, 2024I would like to know how to select Italian schools according to their size. Only size L schools interest me. How can I do?“We do not have a filter to classify schools by size.
However, you will find the information for each school in their description: when you look at the list of schools, it is right below the school name.”Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 23, 2024I did some more browsing on the internet and found 'Il Giornale', the Italy newspaper. In doing so, I found that today's dialects are all derived from the old local 14th-century dialects, when Italy was still a patchwork of small domains. Interesting to see, but of course I want to learn the Italian that will get me the furthest in Italy. In big cities with Leonardo da Vinci schools, among others, I assume that when I speak to Italians, they are much more likely to switch immediately to English or French, and in the north to 'il Tedesco', German. I'm going to look into the situation a bit more first and then decide which area I want to go to. If you have any useful advice, it's always welcome.“Of course, there are areas all over Italy with different influences, but for 99% the language schools only offer standard Italian, which you will therefore get the most out of. Outside the classroom you will indeed encounter dialects, depending on where you are so based on that you can choose a location. Today's standard Italian language is based directly on Florentine, dialect of Florence.
What also helps is keeping an eye on what accreditations schools have. LICET and EDUITALIA, for example, are very important. On the overview page of Italian schools in Italy, you can see these accreditations for each school.
Furthermore, it is also true that schools focus on speaking Italian directly from the beginning, even with absolute beginners. Very occasionally they will switch to another language if there is really no other way to do it, but that is not the approach. It is important to just do it, that is where we learn the most.
I would very much like to hear from you where you would like to study.”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.Net - Jan 02, 2024Do you partner with any schools in Perugia?“At the moment we do not partner with any school in Perugia but I can recommend schools in nearby Arezzo and Montepulciano.”Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 13, 2023What does absolute beginner level mean?“A complete beginner is someone who has no knowledge of the language at all, or who only knows a few very basic phrases.
”Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 29, 2023I would like to attend a language course + cooking course in Italy. Which city would you recommend?“In that case, I would recommend Florence, as most schools there also organise cooking courses. Note, however, that the cooking course is held in Italian and it is therefore an advantage if you already know a little Italian. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Sep 14, 2023I would very much like to register for a language course, but I am not sure what language level I currently have.“Please let us know which school interests you the most and we will be happy to ask whether they can send the level test ahead of time so that we can determine your language level.”Diana Becker, LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 25, 2023I would like to take an Italian course in combination with cooking. However, I have no knowledge of Italian yet and I am starting the language course as a complete beginner. Can I still take part in cooking lessons?“Nobody will be excluded from the cooking lessons based on their level. But you have to be aware that the cooking lessons are always held entirely in Italian. If that is okay with you, you are welcome to register for the cooking lessons.”Diana Becker, LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 25, 2023I would like to book a language course and have a question about the payment. Can the whole payment not be paid in full?“Payment is always made in two steps. The deposit is paid upon registration and the balance (the larger part) must be paid to the school at a later date. All relevant information (deadline, bank details, etc.) can be found in the confirmation email that we will send you.”Diana Becker, LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 25, 2023Can I pay the prepayment via Wire Transfer?“Yes, you can choose that option in the registration form. Please send us a proof of payment once done, and keep in mind that this method of payment takes a bit longer and we will not be able to send your booking to school until we have verified that we have received the payment.”Louise Granath, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 21, 2023Is it possible to book an exam without a course?“I am afraid it is not possible to book exams only via us, but we will be happy to help you book an exam preparation course if you are interested in that.”Louise Granath, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 17, 2023I would like to go to a city that is not so touristy but with a lot of historical culture.“My Italian colleague informed me that Bologna and Verona are very cool cities. They are both big cities, but not as chaotic. Verona has a Coliseum just like Rome, but more beautiful (his opinion). And it is the city of Romeo and Juliet. Bologna has a historic centre where there are no cars and it is designed for pedestrians. It is a university city and so there are many cultural activities.
”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 05, 2023I live in a city that doesn't show on your webpage. Are there no language courses in this city?“If you cannot find the city on our website that means we currently have no partner schools in that city. Contact us if you are interested in a course in another destination or an online course, and we will be happy to help.”Louise Granath, LanguageCourse.Net - May 30, 2023I would be interested in an Italian course. Ideally combined with yoga.
Which school do you recommend?“For the combination of language course and yoga, we recommend the Terramare school in Orbetello. There you will get 4 Italian lessons per day, 3 yoga lessons per week and 2 afternoon activities plus an excursion with the complete package. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - May 15, 2023I would like to know about the programmes you offer. I want an Italian course that I can attend daily, from Monday to Friday.“In Italy we work with many language schools, in different cities all over the country, which offer Italian courses from Monday to Friday, 3-4 hours a day.
On our website, choose the language you would like to learn and where you would like to study. You will have the option to choose a particular city, and you will be able to check beforehand all the information about all our partner schools available in your chosen destination. I advise you to take a look at the school profiles to compare the different programmes on offer, and read the existing reviews from our former students.
Once you have decided on a particular course and school, simply click on the button at the top of the school profile that says "BOOK here at the lowest price", and you will be automatically redirected to our registration form.”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 13, 2023Are there also schools in Italy that offer the option of doing an internship alongside classes? I am looking for a 16-year-old boy.“Yes, there are schools that offer internships in addition to classes. For example, take a look at the school profile of the Solemar Academy in Cefalu. There is a course called "Learning While Working" and you can do an internship at a local company in addition to 20 lessons. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 28, 2023I would like to attend a class where I can take my two Yorkshire Terriers. Is there an option for me?“In that case, I would recommend that you choose a course where you live at the teacher's home and are also taught there. The HLI organisation (Study and Live at your teacher´s home) will certainly find a great option for you. Unfortunately, finding a regular school where you can bring your dog might be a bit difficult. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 20, 2023I am looking for a school where I can take the CELI exam. I would like to take the exam at the school after taking the course for 4 weeks in May. Please let me know which language school is a CELI exam center for the University of Perugia.“Unfortunately, there are no schools that offer the CELI exam at their schools on the requested dates. However, the school offers assistance with the exam application after your course.”Andy Fukutome, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 17, 2023I would like to stay with a host family where my 3-year-old daughter is taught privately. Is there such an offer in Italy?“In this case, we would recommend the HLI organisation, where you live in the teacher's house and are also taught there.
You can book a junior course, which is then also combined with activities, and therefore we would recommend the combination of 10 lessons and 5 activities/week for children of this age. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 13, 2023Are there Italian junior courses and when do they start?“Some schools also offer specific Italian junior courses. The starting dates may be found in the course description box. If there is no starting date specified, please feel free to reach out to us. We are happy to help out.”Diana Becker, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 20, 2022We would like to book directly for 2 people. Do we have to do this separately? Or can you book directly for 2 people?“For the bookings please register individually, because also the personal data, such as address, date of birth and level are requested. ”Tanja, Languagecourse.Net - Dec 07, 2022I work Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Will there be any classes for me outside of these hours?“Schools have well-defined lesson times and days, from Monday to Friday and usually morning hours, so we can certainly recommend a private lesson course. In this way, you can easily plan your lessons according to the timetable and the days you have available, defining everything in advance with the teacher assigned to you by the school.”Antonio Zoppo, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 24, 2022I'm 17 years old, I want to take language courses with you, can you help me find a public high school and get me enrolled?“Sorry, the schools we work with are private language schools, which are aimed to improve your language levels only, we don't work with any public high schools.”Susan Wang, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 08, 2022I'm 17 years old, I want to take language courses with you, can you help me find a public high school and get me enrolled?“Sorry, the schools we work with are private language schools, which are aimed to improve your language levels only, we don't work with any public hig schools.”Susan Wang, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 08, 2022To take a course in Italy, is it necessary to have a student visa processed in an Italian embassy or not? I am from Honduras.“All necessary information about the time required and the cost of the visa should always be requested from the corresponding embassy.
In the case of Italy, I can confirm that in order to obtain a visa you must have an invitation document that schools issue only after receiving full payment for the course, never before.”Antonio Zoppo, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 26, 2022How do I know if I am a complete beginner or if I already have some knowledge?“Complete beginner courses are for students who have never studied the Italian language before. Some schools have special start dates for beginners, others have a new beginner course starting every Monday. If you already know some Italian, you can take a language test either earlier online or on the first day and then be placed in an ongoing course at your level.”Louise Granath, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 18, 2022I need to pass a certified course at the B1 level in order to gain citizenship. I'm a beginner. What can you suggest?“You will need the B1 cittadinanza exam if you wish to apply for Italian citizenship. Certification accepted: CILS, CELI, PLIDA. You may take the CILS exam B1 cittadinanza at the Scuola Leonardo Da Vinci school in Milan. The deadline for application is always 40 days before the exam date. The results are issued after 50 working days after the exam. It is possible to apply only for the exam, but in case you need a course, the school can offer a preparation course as well, which starts 4 weeks before the exam date.
”Anna, Admissions Officer from Scuola Leonardo Da Vinci Milan - Mar 08, 2022I would like to enrol to an Italian university and would like to master the language beforehand.“We work with schools offering academic pathways programmes, which are designed to prepare students for University. This is a great option to build strong knowledge and have an efficient preparation. ”Masi, LanguageCourse.net - Nov 10, 2021I am not a student, but a 62-year-old woman who wants to learn Italian in Italy and to arrange her own accommodation. Do you also offer that?“For sure! We offer courses to people of all ages. And yes, you can also book only a 1-week course. Or a course with activities without accommodation.”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.net - Aug 10, 2021I would like to know if I can study in this school since I am traveling to Italy and I want to take advantage of my holidays to learn some Italian. On the other hand, I would like to know if I can pay in cash the first day, when I arrive at the school.“When you make your online booking through our website, you must indicate how you want to pay the first payment. Once said payment information is provided, your booking will be sent to the school of your choice, which will confirm your space 48 hours later. In the confirmation email that you will receive, it will be indicated, among other things, when and how to make the second payment effective which, normally, will have to be paid 2 or 3 weeks before your arrival. There are very few schools that allow students to pay the first day, and even less in cash. On the other hand, you have to take into account that depending on how long you want to stay in Italy, you may have to process a visa, and that you will only receive the visa letter after having paid the booking in full.”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.net - Jul 30, 2021FAQ about courses in Italy
