Q&A - Questions and answers about France

  • Your children can take these exams at authorised French language schools in Spain without the need to attend classes at the school in question.

As for your 12 year old who is preparing for the DELF B2, I am pleased to inform you that there is a DELF B2 Junior version of the exam. This version is specifically adapted for teenagers, ensuring that the topics are appropriate and attractive to younger candidates. The DELF B2 Junior certificate has the same value as the standard DELF B2 exam and is recognised internationally.

For more detailed and specific information about the exams, you should contact the authorised French language schools directly, by visiting the official DELF-DALF website.

  • If you want to continue practising after class, I would recommend a host family as an accommodation option. In shared flats, you might switch to English or your mother tongue (depending on your flatmates), and in a host family you usually stick to French.

  • Our schools offer different accommodation options and the prices vary. You can consider booking a single room in homestay accommodation (staying with local hosts/host family, this is a cheaper option) with or without meals. Homestay is usually available with shared bathroom, but we can always check with the school if any of their hosts can provide private bathroom. Many schools cooperate with residences, or can offer studios and private apartments as well.. These are more expensive options and you'll have your own kitchen and private bathroom.

  • If you wish to improve your general French knowledge I recommend you choose a standard or intensive course. You'll focus on all aspects of the language: speaking, reading, writing, grammar. If you speak some French, i.e. you can create simple sentences, talk about simple topic (hobbies, family etc), you can usually start the course any Monday. If you are not sure about your level I recommend you book a course for a total beginner date. These starting dates are listed on our website. You'll take a placement test on the first day or before the starting date and you'll be placed with the right group according to your level. This way you'll be able to either join the total beginner class or the level above.

  • Students normally need to book a course with 20 hours. If lessons are 45 minutes you would need to book a more intensive course with 26 or 30 lessons per week. I recommend you contact Campus France to check the visa requirements with them. Visa regulations are rather delicate and they can change very quickly, so your best bet is to always contact the embassy or consulate directly in your home country or Campus France.
    Angela Ligartova, Languagecourse.net - Feb 18, 2022
  • In order to minimize the risks, is to pick bigger schools in larger cities such as Paris, or Nice, and we can of course check how many students the school would have enrolled for the C2 level class about a week before your starting date. However the most important thing is always that students are in a group that corresponds to their level. Therefore it might happen that if a C2 level group course is not available, the school will offer private lessons to the student. I always recommend students join the afternoon activities organised by the school to practice French with other students.

  • Yes, we have a lot of schools in France with Bildungsurlaub certification. You will need to take 30 lessons per week for Bildungsurlaub Berlin and it has to be a 5 day week (no bank holidays allowed.)

  • The minimum required by the schools is at least 30 lessons per week for DELF/DALF exam preparation. The only exception is Etoile Institut de Langue school, which offers 5 lessons per week for a 2 week package, for those who already have the B2 (High Intermediate) level before the course begins.

The price of the exam varies depending on the level and is still specified in the comments of the schools offering the exam preparation course.

It is always necessary to take a compulsory level test before confirming the course itself. This is usually carried out online, through a specific link sent by the school or possibly even on paper.

  • There's no deadline for the registration, however I recommend students register as soon as possible to secure their place at the course. Certain levels may get fully booked. We have negotiated preferential payment and cancellation terms with the the majority of our partner schools. Students can cancel the booking free of charge at the majority of our partner schools 10-30 days before the starting date in case they book the course through our website. They can also modify/postpone the course free of charge. You may contact us to check the cancellation policy or find information about this on the school page on our website.
    Angela Ligartova, from LanguageCourse.net - Feb 28, 2022
  • Correct. The price of the courses does not include accommodation, but you are able to book any of the accommodation options offered by the school.

The schools we work with do offer a wide range of accommodations from homestays to single or shared rooms in apartments or residences. Homestay is the option that I recommend for a true, full-on immersion experience and if you include either full or half board, then you also get to keep practising around the dinner table, learning much more about the culture and traditions than you would otherwise.

On the other hand, you are able to look for accommodation on your own, as I remind you that it is not mandatory to reserve accommodation through the school.

As for the flights, we do not take care of it, but we recommend that you purchase them only once your booking has been confirmed by us.
