“ The school use the “pédagogie différenciée”: Differentiated pedagogy is based on observation in a classroom, a teacher has students with different abilities. This method corresponds to give an answer to the mixed classes by adapting the practices to each student according to curricula, the teaching and the school environment. Often, it’s not the teacher in the centre of the class, but rather students and activities make a central interest. Moreover, this pedagogy aims to improve the harmonization between three components (subject, object and agent) and to strengthen relations between them in order to improve learning. In other words, differentiation (from the pedagogical point of view) means analysing and adapting methods and learning environments taking into consideration the needs and characteristics of one or more students during the learning process.”
- French mother tongue and certified teacher.
- The general content of the course covers: French civilization, oral
production, listening comprehension, written comprehension, written
expression and grammar.
- The teacher gives homework in grammar to each student. Exercises are
given individually and are different from one student to another. This is
because the teacher gives students work according to their level and
helps them to resolve any personal encounter they have difficulties with
during the class. The exercises are reviewed with the teacher in the
classroom.
- The teacher adapts to each one of the students by offering activities
related to civilization, speaking and listening comprehension that allows
each to evolve and grow according to their level.

Rennes is a lively city with plenty of student culture thanks to being home to no less than 13 universities and colleges, and for this reason, you will be able to find plenty of popular hangout spots in the city centre, in particular the trendy cafeterias and the student bars. If you prefer some nature, Rennes is full of well-maintained parks and green areas that you can retreat to for a walk when you need a break from the city rush. You can always ask your homestay family to give you some recommendations on which neighbourhoods to check out, depending on your interests.
Your host family will provide you with your daily meals, and the school encourages guests to take the chance to sit down together and have a chat in French. If you ever need to consult the school about your course or your accommodation, you can contact their Local Organiser within Rennes.

Q&A - Questions and answers about France
- I would like to know how to select schools according to their size. Only size L schools interest me. How can I do it?“We do not have a filter to classify schools by size.
However, you will find the information for each school in their description: when you look at the list of schools, it is right below the school name.”Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 10, 2024I have one son preparing for DELF B2 and two for DALF C1 in Spain. I would like to know if they can take the exams in Spain if they do not book a course. The child who is preparing for B2 is 12 years old. Is the B2 exam you offer only for adults or is there also a B2 Junior?“Your children can take these exams at authorised French language schools in Spain without the need to attend classes at the school in question.
As for your 12 year old who is preparing for the DELF B2, I am pleased to inform you that there is a DELF B2 Junior version of the exam. This version is specifically adapted for teenagers, ensuring that the topics are appropriate and attractive to younger candidates. The DELF B2 Junior certificate has the same value as the standard DELF B2 exam and is recognised internationally.
For more detailed and specific information about the exams, you should contact the authorised French language schools directly, by visiting the official DELF-DALF website.”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 13, 2024I would like to know if I am entitled to a work permit if I study French for 13 weeks.“No, if you wish to study French in France for 13 weeks, you are not entitled to a work permit. To be able to work in France as a foreign student while studying French, you must apply for a long-stay visa for higher education, enrol in a recognised university or institution and respect the time limit (54 hours per month).”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Sep 04, 2023For the level, what does A1 and A2 mean?“A1: Beginner - No knowledge or understands very few basic words/phrases.
A2: Basic - Can understand and talk about simple topics: eg family, shopping, hobbies.”Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 21, 2023The quote suits me and I would like to know what is the procedure to finalize and have a registration certificate?“At the bottom left of your quote, simply click on the "Book" button to be automatically redirected to the registration form.
After completing your form, you will arrive on a secure payment page which will allow you to enter your payment details for the deposit, this being necessary in order to reserve your place.
As soon as your registration is validated online, we have an agreement with the schools which confirm the registrations usually within 48 hours (2 working days).”Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - Jun 16, 2023I am planning to attend the French course in September. My husband would also like to spend some time in Montpellier but he doesn't want to participate in the course. Is it possible for him to stay in your accommodation with me?“In general, the accommodation offered by the schools is reserved for students. If your husband does not wish to attend a course, I suggest that you both look for accommodation on your own, and book the course with us only.”Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - May 15, 2023Holiday camp“We think it's a great idea to learn French while experiencing France during your two-week holiday.
If you let us know your preferred city and start date, we can make school recommendations that are much more in line with your options.”Mindlere Shin, LanguageCourse.Net - May 15, 2023I heard that there are programmes for Ukrainians without financial participation. Do you have this programme at home?“Unfortunately, we do not offer this type of course.
On the other hand, I recommend that you inquire here at FLE, CLPS and French Ministry of Culture (www.culture.gouv.fr)”Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - May 12, 2023I would like to apply for a teaching position in your school. How do I proceed?“Unfortunately, you cannot apply as a teacher through LanguageCourse.Net. However, I advise you to contact the schools directly.”Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - May 02, 2023I'm looking for a course for me and my kids.“Regarding your interest in taking a French language course with your family, our partner schools offer family courses. Please let me know the city you prefer and I will be glad to send you our best offers.”Sawsan Zein, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 26, 2023I am looking for a school that offers surf lessons alongside the language course. Which city is best for this?“For surf lessons + French lessons, we recommend Biarritz. Unfortunately, there are not enough waves for surfing in the other towns. Have a look at the school profile of France Langue in Biarritz. They have an interesting offer! ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 28, 2023I urgently need to improve my fluency until my A-levels. In that case, what accommodation option is best if I still want to practise after class?“If you want to continue practising after class, I would recommend a host family as an accommodation option. In shared flats, you might switch to English or your mother tongue (depending on your flatmates), and in a host family you usually stick to French. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 24, 2023I would like to take an educational leave in France. Which cities or schools are recognised for this?“Popular cities that have schools with accreditations are the big cities like Paris and Montpellier for example. It's best to let us know which city you have in mind and in which federal state you are working. We'll help you choose and send you the recognition for your employer's approval. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 24, 2023Is it compulsory to take the DELF international test before enrolling in a course?“You do not have to take the DELF exam to be able to attent the course. You will only take the school´s language level test before the course starts so that you can be placed in the right group. ”Irina Zotova, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 02, 2023I am looking for a language school in Paris to attend in the fall of 2023. I have a very limited budget, can you please recommend me the cheapest school?“The school offering the most cost-effective tuition among our partner schools in Paris is Bayswater, Paris, at the time of writing.”Andy Fukutome, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 17, 2023Are there English language courses available in France?“Yes, to see a list of schools and offers please select English course and choose France as a destination in our course search engine.”Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 17, 2022I would like to stay in a homestay for the first two weeks and in a student apartment for the last week of my three-week stay. If so, how do I apply?“You may apply for different accommodation options at the school. Please select the first desired accommodation option from the drop-down menu and indicate the next desired accommodation option in the comments section. Please be sure to provide the name of the accommodation option, check-in date, and check-out date.”Andy Fukutome, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 24, 2022Do the costs for accommodations differ a lot in all of the different locations?“Our schools offer different accommodation options and the prices vary. You can consider booking a single room in homestay accommodation (staying with local hosts/host family, this is a cheaper option) with or without meals. Homestay is usually available with shared bathroom, but we can always check with the school if any of their hosts can provide private bathroom. Many schools cooperate with residences, or can offer studios and private apartments as well.. These are more expensive options and you'll have your own kitchen and private bathroom. ”Angela Ligartova, LanguageCourse.net - Apr 29, 2022Can I get some help with which school to choose please? I have an A-level in French but did that 15 years ago. So I am rusty in French. And I only want to study in Paris for a week.
“If you wish to improve your general French knowledge I recommend you choose a standard or intensive course. You'll focus on all aspects of the language: speaking, reading, writing, grammar. If you speak some French, i.e. you can create simple sentences, talk about simple topic (hobbies, family etc), you can usually start the course any Monday. If you are not sure about your level I recommend you book a course for a total beginner date. These starting dates are listed on our website. You'll take a placement test on the first day or before the starting date and you'll be placed with the right group according to your level. This way you'll be able to either join the total beginner class or the level above.
”Angela Ligartova, LanguageCourse.net - Mar 10, 2022Is a 45 minute class considered an hour for visa purposes (long-term student)? Or do I need to take more than 20 classes per week in order to qualify for the 20 hrs/week visa requirement?“Students normally need to book a course with 20 hours. If lessons are 45 minutes you would need to book a more intensive course with 26 or 30 lessons per week. I recommend you contact Campus France to check the visa requirements with them. Visa regulations are rather delicate and they can change very quickly, so your best bet is to always contact the embassy or consulate directly in your home country or Campus France.”Angela Ligartova, Languagecourse.net - Feb 18, 2022What scares me is the possibility that I might wind up as the only person in C2 level and that being cancelled. This happened to me once before in France. If I want one-to-one lessons I can get in in my hometown. What do you recommend?
“In order to minimize the risks, is to pick bigger schools in larger cities such as Paris, or Nice, and we can of course check how many students the school would have enrolled for the C2 level class about a week before your starting date. However the most important thing is always that students are in a group that corresponds to their level. Therefore it might happen that if a C2 level group course is not available, the school will offer private lessons to the student. I always recommend students join the afternoon activities organised by the school to practice French with other students.
”Angela Ligartova, LanguageCourse.net - Feb 15, 2022The condition is that the lessons come from a recognized educational institution, because I would like to apply for educational leave Berlin.“Yes, we have a lot of schools in France with Bildungsurlaub certification. You will need to take 30 lessons per week for Bildungsurlaub Berlin and it has to be a 5 day week (no bank holidays allowed.)”Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.net - Nov 19, 2021FAQ about courses in France

“We have many good partner schools to learn French, it all depends on what your preferences are. What we recommend is the so-called immersion trip: travelling to a country where the language you want to study is spoken as an official language. This way, the progress you will make will be much faster. ”Veronica Romualdi, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 02, 2024We are interested in sending our 17 year-old daughter for one or two weeks to France but she has other things for the summer to be confirmed and we are not sure about the date yet. Can she come any time in the summer, including the end of August?“The minimum required age for the standard courses is 16 - 17 years. These are mixed-age adult programmes. There's no maximum age at the school. Theses course are available throughout the year. She can start at the end of August as well. However junior courses that are usually available for 12-17 year-old students are usually organised during the summer. Many of these programmes end at the beginning or middle of August. You may contact us and we'll check availabity for you. ”Angela Ligartova, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Jun 02, 2023I would like to book a French course for my 17 year-old daughter during the summer. I feel she is probably too old for the junior course and would be better with the adult course. What would you suggest?“Junior courses are usually available for 12-17 year-old students during summer. If her goal is a more serious study and she doesn't mind being in a group with older students, I recommend you book a standard or intensive adult course. Many young adults join these programmes. The average age during summer is 20 - 25 years. The average age might be slightly higher during autumn and winter. ”Angela Ligartova, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - May 31, 2023What are the best destination in France?“Our best destinations in France are Paris, Nice, Montpellier, Lyon, Biarritz.”Madly Simba, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 24, 2023Is there a free school for the homeless or for undocumented migrants in France?“We only work with private language schools. The courses are therefore not free of charge.
If you are homeless or undocumented, it is best to contact the French public services to see what options are available to you. ”Madly Simba, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 02, 2023I am a French teacher and I offer mmersion stays.
I would like to know if you are interested in a partnership?
“At the moment we work exclusively with private language schools or with specific immersion organisations. ”Madly Simba, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Jan 30, 2023I am requesting information for a course of 20 hours per week.
“To give you the most detailed information tailored to your needs we need you to indicate the cities you prefer, your current level of language proficiency, duration of the course, possible start dates and whether you also need accommodation. With these details we can send you personalized quotes and contact the schools to check availability.”Cinzia Carli, Italian Area Manager from - Sep 29, 2022Could you please let me know if there are language schools in France which teach in Russian? If not, what level of English is required to study in French language courses?“In most schools in France, teaching, even for the elementary level is only in a native language. Sometimes the teacher uses English, and add a visual comprehension and explanation system. ”Maksym, Russian speaking manager from LanguageCourse.net - Aug 05, 2022I would like to take the B2 exam at the end of July and attend the minimum number of lessons. Do you enter with a level test?
What are the costs?“The minimum required by the schools is at least 30 lessons per week for DELF/DALF exam preparation. The only exception is Etoile Institut de Langue school, which offers 5 lessons per week for a 2 week package, for those who already have the B2 (High Intermediate) level before the course begins.
The price of the exam varies depending on the level and is still specified in the comments of the schools offering the exam preparation course.
It is always necessary to take a compulsory level test before confirming the course itself. This is usually carried out online, through a specific link sent by the school or possibly even on paper.”Antonio, Area Manager from LanguageCourse.net - May 16, 2022I'm interested in a standard French course in France. What’s the latest I can sign up for classes?“There's no deadline for the registration, however I recommend students register as soon as possible to secure their place at the course. Certain levels may get fully booked. We have negotiated preferential payment and cancellation terms with the the majority of our partner schools. Students can cancel the booking free of charge at the majority of our partner schools 10-30 days before the starting date in case they book the course through our website. They can also modify/postpone the course free of charge. You may contact us to check the cancellation policy or find information about this on the school page on our website. ”Angela Ligartova, from LanguageCourse.net - Feb 28, 2022I am very interested in going to study French in France. The prices of the courses that you show do not include the cost of accommodation or flights, right?“Correct. The price of the courses does not include accommodation, but you are able to book any of the accommodation options offered by the school.
The schools we work with do offer a wide range of accommodations from homestays to single or shared rooms in apartments or residences. Homestay is the option that I recommend for a true, full-on immersion experience and if you include either full or half board, then you also get to keep practising around the dinner table, learning much more about the culture and traditions than you would otherwise.
On the other hand, you are able to look for accommodation on your own, as I remind you that it is not mandatory to reserve accommodation through the school.
As for the flights, we do not take care of it, but we recommend that you purchase them only once your booking has been confirmed by us.”Rubén De Haro, Area Manager - Spanish from LanguageCourse.net - Nov 02, 2021course destinations
