Additional information
Positive aspects of school
I found a very pleasant atmosphere there. After one day I understood that you are there to learn. No stress. If you are having a hard time, no problem, you are here and take it easy. I was also at a good level. Not too difficult, but not too easy either. I am very satisfied and will try, once Dirk and Hilde's situation has been cleared up and they can come along, to come back to Dilit with them for a week in October/November 2024!
Negative aspects
No!
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
The food in the school, in 'The Club', the name of the restaurant.
City/place
It is a very interesting city with a wealth of historical buildings and subjects. Also very impressive to see!
Quality of teaching / language progress
Very intensive, but that's what we're there for.

Was currently under the positions, mainly in the Colosseum region. Very busy, lots of police on the track as well as soldiers. Many homeless people here and there. Just lie on the road or next to it.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The atmosphere in the school is very pleasant and you feel right at home. The teachers, secretaries and cafeteria staff are super helpful and friendly. The leisure activities were especially great, very varied and you saw/learned a lot. It's also easy to make contacts quickly.
Negative aspects
I liked the focus on conversation and the training of the four basic skills. However, the school's didactics and methodology are sometimes quite rigid and not very flexible. Doesn't suit every type of learner.
City/place
A great city!
Quality of teaching / language progress

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The atmosphere, the groups, the teachers, basically everything.
Negative aspects
With 50+ programme, there was no enquiry about health of the group. It was wonderful and very interesting what we were told and shown, though.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Museum Borghese is the most beautiful thing we have seen.
Other comments
Nice to know ahead of time what the activities are and when.
City/place
Wonderful city to explore further once again.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Interesting multi-faceted programme.
Accommodation
We did not have half-board but did have a kitchen. Bit little sheet and towel change and little toilet paper. Nice host and nice place so close to the school.

City/place
Rome is a fantastic city that has an incredible amount to offer.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Good teachers with pleasant teaching style, in which you are maximally encouraged to speak the new language yourself. The school is located in a nice building with ample outdoor space with terraces. The 50 plus programme is great fun
Negative aspects
How inconvenient that it is not communicated in advance which days there are activities. As a result, it is impossible to pre-book visits that require early booking (e.g. Vatican Museum).
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
The school itself has a programme (not 50+) which is interesting. Sundays are always free of activities, but if possible, try to do popular sightseeing Monday to Thursday, as it is obviously quieter in Rome then.
Other comments
At the club you can get good coffee and lunch inexpensively
City/place
Very nice city. Unfortunately sometimes - especially on weekends - regularly too busy.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Very enjoyable and recommended for everyone, both the course and the supplementary programme for 50+.
Accommodation
Meals were not inclusive (the one star does not mean the meals were bad, but actually: not applicable). Fine room, only 2 weeks with one roll of toilet paper and one set of towels per person was actually too tight.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Parlare, parlare, parlare. Finally, a course that isn't a course. A lot of speaking changes the way you use the language. Be sure to take part in the afternoon activities and aperitivo. Everyone at the school is really friendly, whether it's the teachers, the secretary, the director or the club.
Negative aspects
The speakers for the listening texts are sometimes not of the best quality. The teaching part with repeating texts is strange, but it is only a small part.
Accommodation
Simple and practical, in a good neighbourhood. An upscale house with marble staircase and noble doors. Location just top, Bonci Pizza nearby, Pasticceria La Siciliana is worth a recommendation. Conad is across the street and the metro 3 minutes away.

Other comments
Overall a good atmosphere and everyone is nice and helpful.

Everything great, lots to see, great sights, friendly people, good food..
Quality of teaching / language progress
More input, more frontal teaching and correction by the teacher would be desirable, less dialogue between students.

Super nice, enthusiastic teachers, many young students (but there is also a great community of older ones!!), varied lessons where you talk a lot and have fun. Well air-conditioned, nice afternoon activities, good flats and a great location very close to Termini. I enjoyed my time extremely!
Negative aspects
In all the audios/videos only men were mentioned in my case! Not really bad, but I would have liked a more balanced gender ratio:) My flat was not so well connected and my flatmates were unfortunately quite dirty, but the neighbourhood was really nice!
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Join us for the aperitivo!
Other comments
super nice terrace to sit outside, great community and super teachers! There's also a really tasty cafeteria!
City/place
I loved Rome!!!! Everything is united in this city, the beach is an hour away, I miss living there already. Always felt very safe, there are always lots of people out at night too :)
Quality of teaching / language progress
The afternoon hours are a bit harsh due to the length of the day, but you have the chance to talk a lot here, the atmosphere is also much more relaxed and nice :)
Accommodation
The journey to school took 30 minutes by bus, but in Rome the buses come and go as they please, so the whole thing really was very annoying at times.

I will start with good things: the location is great, facilities, office staff are very nice and helpful and the activities are great. However, my ultimate favourite thing was the bar. Food at school was amazing, very tasty and well priced. Unfortunately, I was not happy with the quality of teaching. The method they use just does not work for everyone. If you like structure and to learn basic things at the beginning then this school is not for you! I was in the A1 group. The teacher should have taught us basic things like: an alphabet, how to introduce yourself, how to say I, you, she, he, we, they. We were repeating some conversation without understanding the words (or seeing the words, just repeating from listening) or repeating phone conversations. That was extremely pointless at that stage when I just want to know basic things. I would not have a conversation on the phone with anybody when I am just starting to learn Italian. But it would be nice to know how to say: ''Hi, How are you?'', ''I would like to order....'', and ''Can I have a bill?''. I spoke with few teachers about my concerns but I was just told to have a faith in the method. I paid for two weeks but lasted a week and half. In my second week, I just lost all hope that they will teach me properly and I left. Also, some teachers have a bit of attitude. I had a very unpleasant incident with one teacher and that just cemented my decision to leave. If I can't even ask a question, what is the point to stay? I feel that I chose the wrong school and that I just wasted 2 weeks and a lot of money. Probably, I would learn more by myself by just watching videos on Youtube. P.S. I speak 3 languages so I know how it is in different schools.

I have been to another school and quickly returned to Dilit. The people, the method, the atmosphere and the excursions are all amazing. The method is playful but very well thought through. The teachers are positive, intelligent, kind and very skillful. You will always meet new interesting people and who knows, new ROMAnces. If not with lovers then with Italy and Italian. I'll definitely return. Again.

I wanted to study with people from different age groups, but in my class most pupils were 15-18 years. It might be wise to ask the school about the age range of the other pupils.
Other comments
My teacher did not explain the new grammar, even though people said they did not know what he was talking about. At the same time it was frustrating because I could not read ahead on my own since he did not say what grammar we would study the next day. You should know another latin language since it´s not allowed to speak English even though you are a beginner. My teacher explained things in many ways in Italian. If you are from China for example that does not help.

The teachers are amazing. Very nice, patient and funny. I had 4 teachers (group classes and individual ones) that were very good. The group lesson are a little bit repetitive (listening, acting, practising) but they are good and it is amazing to share the class with so many different cultures (German, Spanish, Korean, Turkish, French, Swedish, Mexican, English...). I spent a very good time with the students outside the school. The individual lessons are very good because you progress faster than during the group ones. Combined classes are ideal to progress.

In my case I had Italian lessons, courses for the official CILS exam and practices in tourism company. Having done a Master in Organization and Management of Events, I told the person in charge of the internship course I'd like to do my practices in that department or in a travel agency. He offered me to do them in a tiny hotel or in a travel agency (there were not more options). I chose the hotel, with the intention of organizing the events. In summary, I spent the entire month as a waitress in the restaurant, a little bit in the reception (as it was so small that only one person fitted in the reception and he could not almost teach me anything) and I was almost a babysitter for the children's birthday parties (events). The principal from the school is friend of the owner of the hotel. The hotel treated me well, the problem is the school's principal, he promises things and then he does not fulfill them just to keep the money that you paid for the course.

They do not start at Zero level. This is what I requested and I was greatly disappointed. I feel I wasted my money and time. The school should start with basic grammar and vocabulary for Zero level and be kind enough to explain the 'why' of something in the student's native language. Consistently repeating something in Italian when the student does not understand Italian is fruitless.

Positive aspects of school
I liked the fact that there were people from all over the globe and that the method of teaching was almost informal because it allowed me to make significant progress in the learning process. The teacher I had was very dynamic and energetic, which made lessons easier. The rest of the staff was always very helpful. I loved the lunch area because I could eat there a good meal for a cheap price.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
If you are the type of person that learns from a very structured- by the book method, you might get a bit frustrated by the program at Dilit. But if you are one of those who is willling to go with the flow and challenge yourself, I definitely recommend Dilit. Also, wonder about the school activities; the ones I went to were great; unfortunately, they get cancelled if there are not many people, so if you don't want to miss out, ADVERTISE them on school with everyone you see! It worked for us:)

Positive aspects of school
Participating in an advanced-level-course, I found it particularly helpful that emphasis was put on making the students speak among themselves - rather than only with the teacher. Moreover, the staff at the school were extremely helpful and friendly. A friend of mine lost his purse and the school willingly lent him some money.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
I took a homecooking class, which was fairly expensive (80 € for three hours), but good value nevertheless: the cooking was good, we had some wine and it was an excellent opportunity to practise one's Italian.

Positive aspects of school
I loved the international environment of the school. It was full of students from all over the world, and once in a higher level, italian was the language of communication between the students as well (rather than english, which was great for learning). There are also possibilities to meet Italians who are learning English in the school, so some free practice! The teachers were absolutely awesome, all well trained and very entertaining. One negative thing might be that the curiculum is rather repetitive, so be prepared for some boredom if you go to classes for more than 2 months. However, the standard of teaching is outstanding, and would definitely recommend this school to everyone!!

the best school I've ever had, because the teachers are very motivated and the lessons are very diversified; you really have to talk in Italien as you're often working in groups or doing some games, etc. but the leisure activities (for example tours trough the city which were very interesting)were often cancelled
