Friendly group. Helpful with activities you want to do.
Negative aspects
Learned less quickly than in my previous school. Lots of copying from the board. Focus on Spanish of Spain because of people with DELE exams while I was looking for focus on Latam Spanish. No place in professional Spanish individually due to a shortage of teachers.

Great city with many sights and good nightlife. Prices, however, very expensive for South America.

Positive aspects of school
Nice building, nice people at the reception.
Negative aspects
The outings were always cancelled for various reasons.
City/place
Very nice and safe in the neighbourhood where I have been.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Partly due to circumstances, I have had many different teachers and most of them are very theoretical and focused on grammar. Whereas in most cases the students are doing it to prepare for their journey. There should be more focus on talking and listening!
Accommodation
Very nice, but tiny room and simple food.

Instructor- America is a provincial person with little knowledge of the greater world. When I asked her to explain to the class the difference between a la derecha and derechos, she refused and said I was giving her a rash with my politics. On another occasion when we were doing an exercise regarding colours I explained to America that subtle colour differences were becoming difficult to me as I am becoming colour blind, she laughed at the idea of colour-blindness, I don't think she had ever been exposed to this concept. In general, overtime America made me feel unwelcome and I did not finish the last afternoon class.

I had a good time at this school for 2 months. The school atmosphere is nice and warm, well organised and teachers are very nice, also the location is very convenient. (about 3 minute walk from a subway station). Everybody has to take the morning lessons (group course) and we study grammar in the morning so if you have already studied grammar and want to study conversation mainly, you have to take private lessons. I haven't studied grammar before so it was very good for me. I'd like to visit them again some day!

It was a big help that most teachers spoke either german or english and most of them spoke even both languages. It makes the learning a lot more effective!
About the city, once you've gotten used to the different cleanliness standards in whole Chile and the low care about broken and unfixed things, you will start to love the people and the country!

I wasn't informed about the Monday lunch in the backyard until my last week there.
I was there for a month and never had the opportunity to go to the winery with the school.
I wanted a shared flat with other students, but ended up living with the 60 year-old owners of the flat. Towards the end, they have stayed at home all day long and I felt very uncomfortable. I would advice others to ask about this before arriving.

Overall it was an excellent experience that was only let down by the disorganization of the administrative staff. This includes being constantly asked for receipts to prove that i'd paid when there really is no need if things are organized properly. Overall it has been a fantastic experience with high quality teaching and excellent out of class activities which made it easy to settle in and meet people.

Friends,
There is something I didn't like about the accommodation.
I had to change accommodation because The Bella Vista Hostel is one of the most horrible places i have ever seen in my life. Really bad organised, they don't speak Spanish but the worst part is related to the cleaning conditions of the "rooms". A lot of rubbish and very low quality of service.
I think it is an excellent place for horror movies. Then, I moved to the Monte Verde Apart Hotel, great quality and excellent service.

The organization was very poor. I was never contacted prior to arrival about my homestay or the airport pick-up that are supposed to be part of the price. Furthermore I tried for a month to contact them before arrival and was not answered until the day I arrived at the school. there was also no way to contact them over the weekend or to find out how to get to my homestay or who i would be staying with.

If you're a complete beginner but you're serious about learning Spanish, I'd suggest you take a language course in your home country before traveling --- the whole language immersion experience will be easier and much more effective after you have a foundation to build on.
