The teachers were really nice.

Avoid Tourist areas in the city if you would like to practice your Italian! Everyone in the shops and restaurants speak English with you, since there are so many tourists! It takes an effort to make the shopkeepers speak Italian with you!

The school is very small. There are only 4 or 5 classes in total. The teachers are very friendly and helpful. You will more likely build a better one-on-one relationship with the instructors and you have a better chance to get help with your language problems, as opposed to a bigger school, with bigger classes. The teaching method is very structured and more concentrated on excercises rather than instructing and showing examples, in the grammar classes. I liked the conversation classes since the topics were interesting and encouraged the students to talk without putting pressure on them. If you are attending the school for a short period of time (1 or 2 weeks) you will find the conversation classes more helpful than the grammar classes.

Would have been nice to have some evening activities, like dinners out or wine out together. Most of the students were much younger than me, but it would have been nice to socialize. I really progressed in my language--thank you!

L'ambiance amicale, les cours avec peu d'élèves (il m'est même arrivé d'être toute seule), la disponibilité des enseignants.

Si on s'intéresse à l'art, le Duomo, les Offices, l'Academia, la chapelle de Benozzo Gozzoli au pails Medici-Riccardi. Pour l'oenologie, les nombreux petits bars à vin et la Cantinetta Antinori au palais Antinori. Si on est gourmand,les glaces de Vivoli et son très bon espresso. Très beaux aussi dans les environs de Florence le village de Fiesole, et San Miniato, tous deux accessibles en bus. Et beaucoup de magasins de chaussures et autres objets en cuir.

Florence est une ville extraordinaire; il suffit de flâner au hasard des rues et ruelles pour trouver des sujets d'émerveillement.

the conversation-lessons are too small; there might be more time for conversation in italian language. People want to learn how to speak and talk with habitants, the grammar is not so important.

Try to talk as much Italien as you can. It is very much appreciated by the Italian people and new doors will open.

If you like renaissance art, good food and you have some time to spend in one city, it's a great experience!

Cours efficace

Very friendly staff and teachers. The methods of teaching a foreign language are very efficient. The courses are really worth one's salt. The afternoon and weekend programs are of great variety, and you can always see that the teachers are highly motivated. I would return to ABC at any time!!!

According to my opinion the excusions offered by the school are much better that the ones offered by official tourist organisations, because the groups are smaller and the excusions are acompanied by well informed teachers of the school. So take the opportunity to join as much activities offered by the school as possible.

ABC-pupils come from all over the world and it's amazing that you can communicate with anyone in Italian, because it's the common language of everybody. The average age of the sutdents may be about 25, but also people beyond 50 are comletely integrated (if they want to be). I could hardly believe that it is so easy to learn a new language with 55!! And therefore I would always return to ABC, if necessary.
