Accommodation - because there were 5-6 people staying at the apartments, I did not benefit from much interaction with the host family. Limitations on gas/electricity also created some inconveniences.

I loved the sense of community I felt within the student body and between the students and faculty. Not only was the facility accessible and comfortable, the classes were extremely helpful in my language development and created a fun environment to explore language and culture.

Good location and friendly teachers.

There were many people from different countries and there were few people in each class, so you had to speak in Portuguese. That was good!

There is a high level of focus and consistency in placing you in a class at the appropriate level. I find all the teachers very friendly people and the course materials are excellent.

Please ensure to bring a dictionary and a book of verbs.

Hopefully there will be a level 5 class available when I go back again.

Teaching standards are high, teachers are helpful and can access solutions very quickly.

You need a good dictionary and a specialized book on verbs, don't miss any classes and make sure you do the homework.

The bus to Costa da Caparica (nice beach, awful buildings) leaves from the "Praça de Espanha". Otherwise by ferry from Cais do Sodre to Cacilhas and then by bus.

Nice teachers. Some of the excursions were really nice (with funny Miguel).

Paulo was an excellent teacher, they gave me a book and a cd.

Make sure you are put into the correct class.

I was not assessed and put into a complete beginners' class. I am a language teacher of French and Spanish and already had a good understanding of the basics of Portuguese - indeed i could communicate basically in Portuguese!!! I asked to be moved and was half way through the second day!!!

Try and go on the cultural visits the school offers because they are free whereas to go alone you have to pay at least 5 euro. Also in Lisbon buy a month metro pass even if you are only staying for 2 weeks because its only 28 euro and you will no doubt pay more if you travel about lisbon buying individual tickets!

Great atmosphere, high level of lessons, and a lot of social activities and integration with other students. Miguel was creating a great atmosphere during city trips and sightseeing.

Use as much of the social offer as possible - that was great extension to language classes.

Be sure to rinse well in advance when exactly you have to leave your accommodation. Otherwise, there0sthe possibility runs the risk of being expelled from the house...

The school didn't have any technical features, except the computers (which were for private use, NOT instructional) This was very surprising. Even for the final test, she READ it (as opposed to listening to it on the computer, etc.)

The teaching was first class.

Like all courses the more you put into it the more you get out. I therefore think that it would be useful to tell beginners that they should do some learning of background material before they start the course. In my class 80% of the students had done that but the few that didn't found it quite tough and slowed the others down.
