You should know Hiragana and Katakana.
Other comments
At Kudan Institute you will also find the people who booked really expensive (3000 EUR for 3 weeks) the WLE-Programm. You can have the same quality of language course if you book on this site a lot cheaper (WLE only provides airport transfer and Disneyworld excursion). I would even recommend to book the accomodation yourself to be in the center of Tokyo.
