What our students said about Toronto

5.0

Rating: 5/5

Everyone is so friendly and there are a lot of interesting sites to visit. It was, however, surprising to see how dirty the streets were and how many homeless people were around. Some even slept in the middle of the sidewalk or in bus stations on the main roads. They frequently begged for money, going as far as harassing customers waiting in line at stores. Nothing happened to me but some of my friends got their wallets stolen or got screamed at by homeless people, so I would rate "safety" at 3/5.

Toronto is a very pretty City, but very expensive City. So, just take care about it. The TTC is good, but too simple. You have to pay the most part of the activities, but there are a lot of amazing things to discover.

My teacher Adeeb.
I booked a 20 hour course. Day 1, only 50min class in the afternoon. Day 4, all morning lost on a ghost tour. Day 5, no class in the morning (we went out for breakfast all morning). So I only had 2 real days of class out of 5. I paid $50 for a book that I only used for one day. Activities are only a suggestion. Nobody from OHC school comes with us anywhere. They only offer different trips organized by other agencies.

Information about Toronto

Why Toronto? Toronto is Canada's largest city and the fifth largest city in North America. Toronto boasts Yonge Street, the longest street in the world; the world´s tallest tower, CN Tower and the largest festival of Caribbean culture and music in the world. The city is a lively, cultured place with hot summers and cold, dry winters. By night, its people indulge themselves at the city's numerous restaurants, bars and clubs, or at the symphony, opera and theatre. Toronto is defined by its citizenry – friendly and efficient.
What we like about Toronto

Toronto is buzzing with energy year round. Like most large cities, Toronto has lots of shops, restaurants, sport events, museums and a lively nightlife. What is surprising for a large city is that Toronto has lots of green spaces and beautiful beaches. You can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature easily here. The locals in Toronto are extremely friendly. Everyone is welcome and there is no end to activities you can join to meet new people and practice English. This friendliness has made it a very multicultural city with a variety of cuisines, festivals and local events. As Canada’s largest city, Toronto does not disappoint!

What we dislike about Toronto

Toronto has a high population of both locals and tourists. This makes its streets crowded, particularly in high season. This has only happened in the past few years and has resulted in Toronto needing to expand quickly to cope with the demand. The housing situation has been very affected by this. Accommodation prices are very high in Toronto compared to other Canadian cities. As the city embraces and catches up with the demand, these points may be resolved.

Q&A - Questions and answers about Toronto

  • Yes, it is possible to change it. However, you may have to pay an extra charge for making a new arrangement. If there are no rooms available, you will be asked to change to another accommodation option.
    Andy Fukutome, LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 31, 2023
  • The schools accept students from all adult age groups. This means that you will be with other international students, older or younger than you. Groups are organised according to language level, not age, although in high season, if there is more than one group of the same level, the age of the students will also be taken into account. To give you an idea, the average age during the year is around 25-30 years old, while in summer it goes down to 20-25 years old. Please note that some schools have a higher or lower average age. You can find this information on the website, but you can always come to me.
