General Information on Alexandria
Alexandria, known as "The Pearl of the Mediterranean", has an atmosphere that is more Mediterranean than Middle Eastern. It extends about 32 km along the coast of the Mediterranean sea in north-central Egypt. Its rich culture goes back to a long history: It was founded around 331 BC by Alexander the Great and remained Egypt's capital for nearly a thousand years. Alexandria is considered a main summer resort in the Middle East. The beaches host many cafeterias and are famous for being covered by umbrellas in summer.
