How we create the points regarding what we like/dislike about a school

Location: Wanting to learn Spanish where it is practically blue skies with the sun shining everyday, then look no further than Tenerife. Tenerife experiences excellent weather throughout the year due to its location to the equator. Canaries Cultural is a language school in Santa Cruz on the beautiful island of Tenerife. The school is centrally located within the city, just 10 minutes from the Auditorio de Tenerife, which is not just an auditorium, but also considered to be amongst the most interesting Spanish architecture structures. Just down from the auditorium you can find the palmetum, a botanical garden depicting a variety of palm tree species, Parque Marítimo César Manrique, an aquamarine centre with 3 swimming pools, and the Castillo de San Juan Bautista. The central area of Santa Cruz is Plaza de España, a nice 20 minute stroll through the city from the school. The area immediately surrounding the school has all the amenities that you could want for your stay in Santa Cruz. As the climate is attractive all year round it is a great place to explore not just for the cities, but also its landscape. The island itself is volcanic and there are black lava beaches to explore and the unmissable Mount Teide, a volcano with the highest peak in Spain. Mount Teide is found in the middle of the island with the other cities and beaches found around its circumference. The island is easy to explore by car, or for the more adventurous a scooter, as it has a circular road all around almost in the shape of a teardrop. From Santa Cruz the whole lap around the island would take just over 3 hours with no stops, which would be difficult as around every bend there is some beauty to be seen.

Ethos of School: Canaries Cultural language school provides students with a warm and friendly environment, a home from home, with the theory that this will encourage maximum learning potential. The group sizes are all small, with a maximum of 8 students per group, giving each student the space to voice any concerns they may be having and to receive a more personal teaching experience. This is very important as the lessons are taught and communicated in Spanish from the very start in a fully immersive style.

Course structure: Along with the standard Spanish courses, the school also offers a business course to improve upon your business communication skills as well as a cultural course to combine learning the Spanish language with discovering more about its culture and history. The school has other resources in the building including a multimedia room with a television and recorder as well as a computer lab. For after lesson wind down time the school has a terrace and rooftop space for social interaction with other students.
  • The language school Canarias Cultural, Santa Cruz was founded in Tenerife, Spain in 2001.

Student opinions about Canarias Cultural, Santa Cruz, Tenerife

Liked
The lessons are interesting and entertaining. I learn a lot of grammar. What I learn is also immediately applied in dialogues. My teacher Samuel explains everything very clearly and comprehensibly, so that I can remember the grammar very well. He teaches very empathetically and at the student's pace. In just a few weeks, I am already at the A2 level and feel much more confident. However, we don't learn according to a language book. The lessons are structured according to grammar.

Teacher Visente just a treasure! He is able to convey information to students with the most minimal knowledge of the Spanish language. And it is a clear and distinct. My classes began at 10 am and ended at 13:30. Very comfortably. There is time to sleep and after school to walk and go to the neighboring towns.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss The school has a bicycles for rent, you should probably take it. Since the first two weeks of walking, I went enthusiastically, but on the third march a little fed up to 30 minutes.

Other comments It's a good school, especially for people 30+. I am 24, I was the youngest in the group. There was the oldest woman with 76 years old. Felt a bit cut off from society, because the interests and views I have were totally differed from the middle-aged generation. I want to come back again in this school.

Flexibility. I was able to tailor my lessons to times and days that suited me during my stay in Santa Cruz. There was also flexibility with the teaching. My teacher responded to what I wished to do and tailored the teaching appropriately.
Disliked
There was nothing I disliked. Far from it. The only small point I’d like to make is that it would have been useful to have received confirmation from the school that my full payment for the course - which I paid a week before the course was to start - had been received.

Other comments Friendly, but a little messy organization. Had to remind them to get my language test sent, but it came quickly when I asked for it. My room mate was not allowed to do anything, and ended up in the wrong group according to her. The accommodation was not a student apartment, but I lived with a woman. It worked great, but it would have been nice to know this before arrival. You have to take initiative to schedule your individual classes yourself. I got them all during the last week which was a bit much! Very substandard wifi. Only open during the lessons, so no possibility to use libraries for possible computer access or study. It was a bit of a shame. BUT ... The incredibly hospitable lady I lived with, my dear roommates, the incredibly skilled teacher we had .. made it all worth it !!!!
