How we create the points regarding what we like/dislike about a school

Location: Just across the River Lee, in the engaging Irish city of Cork, is Cork English World. Cork is the third largest city in Ireland and although reasonably small, it is jam packed with things to see.

Local attractions: Cork has some interesting local food treats for those interested, and these can be tried and tested in the English Market or in one of the many cultural festivals and fetes that frequent the city. The city has two cathedrals, and the most spectacular one, the gothic Fin Barre's Cathedral, is opposite Cork English World. The Crawford Gallery is a great way to view the local art with over 1000 art pieces using a number of different mediums. All of the inner city attractions are within a 20 minute walking circumference of the school. There are also attractions outside the city which are well worth a visit including the Cork City Gaol Museum, Blarney Castle and the Cork Butter Museum. A quick walk across the River Lee and students can find a well connected bus station for trips outside the city centre. Cork has all you can need for a stay, with local pubs, restaurants, bars and shops and the nightlife is true to the Irish reputation.

Getting around: The city has its own international airport but for those coming into the city from the capital city of Dublin, there are frequent bus and train services which generally take about 3 hours.

School facilities: The architecture throughout the city is of a Georgian style and this is reflected in the beautiful school building at Cork English World. Inside the school the facilities are modern and the atmosphere homely.

Teaching style: The teachers are up to date with the current teaching methodology and there is an inhouse teacher training programme to ensure that the students receive the best teaching possible during their stay at Cork English World.

Course structure: To accompany a range of different general English classes available, the school also offers its students the opportunity to join an exam preparation course in either the IELTS exam course or FCE Cambridge Exam, both of which are credible English exams that can be used for employment or further education.

Social activities: The Irish are known for their friendliness and the school offers its students a number of after class activities that can be joined by simply signing up to them in reception. These include a free weekly conversation class, half day excursions, visits to local attractions, evening socialising at local taverns and at times a full day excursion.
  • The language school Cork English World was founded in Cork, Ireland in 2011.
  • Legal name / parent company: Cork English Training World, Ltd.

Student opinions about Cork English World, Cork

Liked
Perfect location, everything was close by. The afternoon classes were great, a lot of conversation, the morning ones could have been organised in smaller groups and with emphasis on conversation, less grammar.
Disliked
No trips or outings. Everyone has to make their own arrangements, but the people at the school are very helpful and help if they can and know how to arrange something.

Very competent teachers care about our progress with individual and weekly assessments of our level. Listening and speaking every day. Small classrooms, never more than 10 people.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss In the afternoon, the additional free classes are fully recommended. You join the course at the beginning, middle or end of the textbook. If you like to drink beer, that's great, if not, you'll die of boredom in this town.
