How we create the points regarding what we like/dislike about a school

Position of school in Fukuoka: The school is to the east of the city, close to the Mikasa River. The streets around the school are quiet, but just a short walk away is a central part of the city, with an array of transportation links, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and cafes.

Exploring the city: Genki Japanese and Culture School is right next to the Hakata transit hub. There are a large number of trains leaving from this station. Just up from the train station is a large bus terminal, with regular bus routes around the city.

Local attractions: Due to its position to Hakata transit station, the school is well positioned to explore the city. The Ohori Park and the Fukuoka Castle Ruins are 25 minutes by train or 40 minutes by bus. Kushida Shrine and Fukuoka Asian Art Museum are 20 minutes away by foot from Genki Japanese and Culture School.

Course structure: Japanese courses are possible in a group setting in a weekly structure or as a long term package. During the summer months the school has programmes for young learners that include accommodation. There are specific cthemes that you can add to a general Japanese course to make the classes more structured to your language outcome. These extras include conversational Japanese and a Cultural programme to learn more about the Japanese way of life and use of their own language.

School chain: GenkiJACS, as a group, currently has four schools in Japan, in Fukuoka, Tokyo, Nagoya and Kyoto. Since 2005, GenkiJACS has supplied quality Japanese language tuition and cultural programmes to students of all levels and many nationalities. Their initial success has seen the group expand steadily, regularly recognised by awards throughout the education sector, including being voted the Star World Language School of the year at the industry Star Awards in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020.
  • The language school Genki Japanese and Culture School was founded in Fukuoka, Japan in 2005.

Student opinions about Genki Japanese and Culture School, Fukuoka

Liked
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They'll help you with anything and go out of their way to do so. Also, you get a free personal cup while you're there. You have a selection of beverages, microwave, DVD/Manga/bookselection you can rent or even keep (the books) for free. Also, you get flash cards, so you can learn all the vocab and Kanji quickly and, if your a woman, you get a personal alarm (not that it's really necessary but it's definitely reassuring).
Insider tips about what future students should not miss Go around town at lunchtime to try all the delicious food (ramen, udon, ohagi, motsunabe) and just mingle with the Japanese, it's a unique experience. Don't forget to try the uncountable amount of sweets in Japan. The chocolat is quite delicious (and as a Swiss I have experience when it comes to good chocolate. ;)

Other comments You can get a language exchange partner for free, if you ask at the school or mention it when you book the course. They'll find you a suitable Japanese exchange partner, so you really get to speak as much Japanese as possible.

Other comments I thoroughly enjoyed my time studying in Fukuoka. GenkiJACS helped me find great accomodation and my Japanese improved despite just being there for 3 short weeks. I can definitely say that I am more confident with Japanese conversation due to the ample practice that I had in the classes there.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss If you want to learn fast, this is not the right place. 2 months at this school are not enough if you want to learn something (and they are not cheap). But going somewhere else to learn faster will require more dedication. A school like this, where most students are European, is not very open to Japanese students. I have missedbeing in contact with locals. Of course this depends on your social skills.
