The General Italian course covers many bases, and is structured essentially in two parts:
The first part centres primarily around the study and analysis of Italian grammar, and the structural elements of the language.
After the teacher has guided the class through a topic, the students consolidate their learning through exercises, done both in class and at home.
The second part consists of activities that develop communication skills, encouraging students’ written and spoken expression.
Through games, role play, reading, discussions, listening exercises, songs, films, short compositions and dictations, our mother-tongue Italian teachers, all of whom are qualified in the teaching of Italian to foreigners, guide students towards a global understanding of the Italian language.
Elements of Italian culture and civilization are always topics of conversation during the Italian lessons. In line with the students’ level of Italian, the subjects discussed range from simple (for example the sequence of dishes of a typical Italian meal) to more complex (for example current affairs in Italy), which encourage some debate.

The General Italian course is organised and divided into two broad parts, to ensure that each is given adequate attention during students’ 20 weekly lessons. The first part is concerned with elements of Italian related to using grammar accurately, and learning to understand the logic of how the language is structured - meanwhile, the second part is reserved mainly for speaking activities that are designed to make students improve their practical communication skills.
A constant theme of all lessons, and in particular the communication sessions, is Italian culture. This aspect of the course will add a new dimension to your language training, as you’ll learn about social attitudes in Italy, as well as topics related to politics and current events.
Each lesson lasts for 55 minutes and takes place between 09:00 and 13:00.
Visa application fee: EUR 350

This course comprises general lessons in a group in the morning, plus a private lesson of 1 hour every afternoon. This private hour can be personalised, and so the Mini Intensive Italian course suits students with specific areas of interest that they would like to explore on a one-to-one basis with a teacher. With just one hour of afternoon tuition, students who select this course still have much of the day free to explore Pisa, relax, work, study, etc.
The aims of the Mini Intensive course:
The morning lessons seek to provide students with a global understanding of the Italian language. That means building up a solid base of grammar and then using it in increasingly sophisticated written and spoken expression.
The mother-tongue Italian teachers know how to guide you in this process, and with their years of experience you will find yourself progressing quickly alongside your classmates.
The afternoon time is spent teaching you the Italian that you want to learn. This could be related to business, culture, everyday conversation, etc. If you have specific topics that you would like to cover, be it for your work, studies or simply your personal interest and enrichment, your teacher will gladly accommodate them. Essentially, this afternoon hour is your personal syllabus. The individual lesson is therefore also highly valuable time for clarifying any doubts you have with the Italian language.
If you have a specific goal, for example, passing the PLIDA or Italian university exam, your teacher will be able to use the private hour to help you reach it.

This is the course for the super-student who’s seeking to learn as much as possible in the time that they have in Italy. Combining general Italian group lessons in the morning with 2 hours of individual lessons in the afternoon, our Super Intensive course provides the opportunity to cover a lot of ground. The one-to-one tuition in the afternoon can be personalised to suit the student’s needs or interests, and over the course of 2 hours daily, the topics that the student chooses can be explored in great depth. This might particularly suit professionals wanting to learn vocabulary related to their industry or students preparing for a university exam.
Whilst this is indeed an intensive course, your experienced and patient teachers will make sure you don’t feel overwhelmed or fatigued. They use a wide variety of course materials and lessons can include videos, songs, readings, and discussions. This allows them to find what works best for the students and keep things fresh and engaging.
What will you learn on the Super Intensive course?
You will certainly come away from your super-intensive course with an improved understanding of Italian grammar and the structural components that form the language. The morning class in a group is largely geared towards linguistic analysis. At times you will work collaboratively with your classmates and at other times you will complete exercises on your own, to consolidate your learning.
Your teacher will then spend part of the morning on activities that encourage the class’s communication skills. This means putting the grammar and vocabulary you’ve been steadily acquiring to good use through conversation, role-playing exercises and written compositions. You will learn about Italian culture and traditions and will discuss everything from food to politics, which always engages class conversation!
As for what you will learn in the afternoon, that is really up to you! The individual lessons can be designed to suit you. Any doubts you have in Italian can be fully addressed at this time, and your teacher can prepare teaching materials that speak to your interests and aims.
