General Information on Islas Galapagos
The archipelago has been known by many different names, including the "Enchanted Islands" because of the way in which the strong and swift currents made navigation difficult. Puerto Ayola is situated in the Santa Cruz island, it's the largest town in the archipelago and offers the most interesting sights: Tortuga Bay Beach, Cerro Dragón, Land Iguanas and the Charles Darwin Station. In 1978 UNESCO recognised the islands as a World Heritage Site.
