Location: Solemar Academy Cefalù is located in the beautiful coastal city of Cefalù, Sicily, Italy. The school is housed a couple of blocks from the waterfront, surrounded by eateries, restaurants and supermarkets, whilst also being within walking distance of such attractions as Cefalù Cathedral, Cefalù Beach, the Lavatoio Medievale Fiume Cefalino and much more.
School facilities: The school facilities include 5 classrooms, a hall with a sofa, a library, a coffee machine, a well-equipped kitchen and a communal outdoor space. The school also provides free WIFI and free parking to their students.
Course selection: Solemar Academy Cefalù provides various courses suitable for adult students of all levels. In addition to General Italian courses available over several schedules and intensities, the school also provides a Club 50+ programme, Italian and Volunteering, Learning while working, and Exam Preparation programmes (CELI).

Aimed at everyone who wants to learn Italian in small groups. Standard Italian courses start every Monday and groups are arranged according to ability. During the course, lessons focus on the four language skills (speaking, writing, reading, listening) and highlight issues of cultural interest.
Special note for 2024 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2024 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2023 many schools were fully booked during the holidays, and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2024 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

The CELI exam course (University of Perugia) offers two versions and is of variable duration. The student can choose the One to One version or the Combined version. In the first option, all units are studied individually alongside our teacher. During these sessions, the student will be helped to analyse past exam papers, address particular difficulties they may encounter and review homework assignments by their personal language coach.
The Combined variation is a hybrid of the standard course and individual lessons. The standard course serves to deepen the student’s general understanding of the Italian language. During the individual units, on the other hand, the candidate focuses exclusively on exam preparation.
In both cases, the candidate is provided with past papers, given advice on how to deal with the exam paper, and sits both written and oral mock exams.

Sharing accommodation is the ideal choice to make friends here. The rooms are located either in Villa Caterina or in the immediate vicinity. They offer single and double rooms (which can only be booked as a couple).
The spaces
Each apartment has a bathroom, a kitchen, a common living area, a terrace or balcony and two or three bedrooms. All guests can enjoy open access to the garden of Villa Caterina, where you can take advantage of shaded spaces, a solarium, a vegetable garden, an chicken run and duckpond (and if you are lucky, even fresh eggs), fruit trees and a large lawn where you can relax. In the garden you will also find a drinking water fountain, a ping pong table and beach equipment.
Every apartment includes a TV, a washing machine, air conditioning, wireless internet, and everything you need for a comfortable stay of any length.
Location
The shared accommodations are located in the upper part of the city. The beautiful old town centre is just a 10-minute walk away. The road back is uphill but shouldn’t present a problem to anyone used to moving around on foot. Solemar Academy Italian language school is just 900m away.

Sharing accommodation is the ideal choice to make friends here. The rooms are located either in Villa Caterina or in the immediate vicinity. They offer single and double rooms (which can only be booked as a couple).
The spaces
Each apartment has a bathroom, a kitchen, a common living area, a terrace or balcony and two or three bedrooms. All guests can enjoy open access to the garden of Villa Caterina, where you can take advantage of shaded spaces, a solarium, a vegetable garden, a chicken run and duckpond (and if you are lucky, even fresh eggs), fruit trees and a large lawn where you can relax. In the garden, you will also find a drinking water fountain, a ping pong table and beach equipment.
Every apartment includes a TV, a washing machine, air conditioning, wireless internet, and everything you need for a comfortable stay of any length.
Location
The shared accommodations are located in the upper part of the city. The beautiful old town centre is just a 10-minute walk away. The road back is uphill but shouldn’t present a problem to anyone used to moving around on foot. Solemar Academy Italian language school is just 900m away.

- I am interested in learning Italian from scratch in Cefalu. I am 60 years old and unfortunately I do not know English, which usually makes communication easier. Would the lack of knowledge of English make it difficult for me to stay in a language school and whether my age range is appropriate to start learning?“When it comes to knowing English, not many people in Italy really know the language.
At the school, only Italian is used during lessons, even during lessons for complete beginners.
I must admit that at the school itself, the staff speak English with students who do not speak Italian well enough.
However, don't worry, I will always be available in case of any problems or doubts.
Age really doesn't make a difference, there are students of different age groups in the school and the groups are organized based on the level of Italian.
