If you choose to study with this school in London, you will be in a small class, a maximum of 8 students per class, ensuring you receive an excellent amount of support from their expert teachers. In addition to studying in class, you will also receive a number of tasks to complete at home. As well as their 4-week course, they also run 1-week OET intensive courses.

The Occupational English Test (OET) is a test of English for healthcare professionals. It is accepted by the General Medical Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council as evidence of the English requirement. UKCE has been recognised as an official preparation provider by OET. The course is focused completely on work-related language and scenarios, allowing candidates to access their existing professional knowledge. Work with exercises from real OET tests and mock exams; learn medical language; benefit from speaking and writing sessions are specific to your profession, etc.

This course is designed for non-native doctors, nurses or midwives who need to pass the OET exam in order to work in UK hospitals. During this course, students will practise each part of the exam, as well as vocabulary and language techniques that will help with patient interactions. Please note exam fee is charged separately and subject to change; exams held at are booked directly with OET. Course book is not included in course price. You will study and practise the specific formats for each part of the exam (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) so you are confident and prepared when you take the OET. This includes study of the medical language necessary for the exam and also for the profession you are aiming for (Medicine or Nursing). Morning classes focus on Speaking and Writing (three hours per day Monday-Friday; 09:15-12:45); afternoon classes focus on Reading and Listening (2.25 per day Monday-Thursday; 13:45-16:15, Thursday finish 17:45 latest). There is a full mock exam included for each participant, so please note that the Thursday afternoon is a late finish, up to approx. 17:45 depending on the number of participants. By the end of the course, you will also have improved some of your techniques and language to help you in your future patient interactions.

This course prepares students for the OET exam.The Occupational English Test is a language examination specifically aimed at professionals in medicine, nursing and allied medical disciplines, and candidates who pass the exam and have the necessary professional qualifications are able to practice in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. IH/LSI Portsmouth are pioneers in the OET, and were among the first cohort of schools to pilot it. We are an OET Examination Centre, and an OET Premium Provider, one of only a very small number in the UK.

This courses can be taken independently, or in addition to General 20. The indicated prices are only for the 10 Medical lessons.
