The high school programme is for students who are looking to spend an academic year abroad in an Irish secondary school. This is a unique opportunity for students to experience the educational system in Ireland while at the same time improving their own language ability. The programme is ideal for students who would like to study at third level in an English-speaking country after finishing their secondary school education or who intend to take up studies through the medium of English in their own country.

CEC works with a number of partner secondary schools in Cork City and suburbs. The partner schools they use have been carefully selected based on their performance as educational institutes and on the excellent results which their students consistently obtain in the final school-leaving examination. The percentage of students from these schools who go on to study at third level institutes is very high, averaging 80 to 90% of school leavers from any one year.
CEC offers the programme in day schools to young learners of a school-going age between 13 and 18 years. Most students attend 4th year, also called Transition Year, but they also offer places in other years.
