Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Beautiful location in the old town, nice people, very committed teacher
Negative aspects
very small classrooms, it was very cold, coffee/snacks often "ran out", no afternoon activities or excursions offered (ok for a week, you can explore Palma); due to the internationality of the students, it was sometimes a jumble of languages; explanations in English were not always understandable for everyone
City/place
Palma is worth a visit (but not in the high season and not when there are 3 cruise ships in the harbour...)
Quality of teaching / language progress
the "placement" on site was a short sentence

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The location of the school was very, very good. I am very content with Lorena's lessons.
Negative aspects
Unfortunately, some of the students in my class had a different language level. It was therefore difficult to structure the lessons in such a way that they were interesting for all the students. However, Lorena made the best of the situation.
City/place
Palma de Mallorca is very beautiful. The only drawback is that it has become quite expensive.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The lessons were fun, after a trial day we were able to change to another class according to the language level and our wish for more speaking practice. Everything was unproblematic. The school is also centrally located in the old town and easily accessible on foot from all sides.
Negative aspects
The classrooms are quite small, but this is probably also due to the central location in the old town buildings.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
If necessary, in the heat of the discussion on current topics, make sure not to switch to English for too long, as you really want to bring up your topic :-)
City/place
Very nice city, clean and safe. Good to explore on foot at all times. The "Ballermann" crowd is obviously not in the city, but rather on the outskirts. The gastronomy offers a paradise for vegans, from simple to very upscale cuisine, everything is there!
Quality of teaching / language progress
It was a lot of fun, language application was the goal and that's how it was.
Accommodation
The host family was super nice and also eager to support the use of the language. The location was great, on a side street close to the old town. Not too noisy, apart from the rubbish trucks in the morning, but you probably have that problem everywhere in the city.

Positive aspects of school
The location was great! The profesora good and really Spanish-speaking, coffee and some goodies available every day, good class, nice classroom. Well divided by level.
Negative aspects
No afternoon programme or an excursion. No certificate of participation received so far. Would be sent via mail.
Other comments
Many German participants of adult age in my week.
City/place
Great historic centre, beautiful, clean, idyllic, well-maintained, safe and convenient with plenty of culture and many nice shops, terraces and Spanish restaurants.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Good, met my expectations.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Great teachers. Wonderful old town location. Small. Went out of their way to help. Good courses. Very nice head of school, very personable and engaging.
Negative aspects
Classrooms have a strong echo and the lighting is positioned low so it reflects off the whiteboard. This made seats in the back hard to see and hear sometimes. Some carpet or sound damping would help. Additional afternoon or evening excursions would have been desirable.
Accommodation
The room was nice and had a deluxe bathroom. The landlady let me store some medicine in her fridge and she greeted us when we came home. The beds themselves are old spring mattresses and while adequate are not very comfortable. Location was excellent.

It was a great experience and we enjoyed it. In addition, we learned really well. There was a good atmosphere every day. There was an "Get together-Event" in the evening once a week, which we were unfortunately unable to attend.
Negative aspects
Due to the season, the classrooms were sometimes too cold. The fan heaters that were set up did almost nothing.

Positive aspects of school
The teachers were very good at explaining and communicating the content.
Negative aspects
Maybe it was due to the time of year, but the organisation of the courses was a bit "chaotic" and the rooms quite cold. The acoustics are poor, so a lot of things were not understood properly and you had to concentrate a lot when listening.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
I would like a course that takes place twice a week and not a course that takes place every day, but where you attend twice a week and miss the rest of the week.....and then start again the following week with new participants....
City/place
Me encanta!
Quality of teaching / language progress
Unfortunately, the language skills of the participants were very different. The online level test couldn't really help with that.

Positive aspects of school
Everyone at "Die Akademie" is very friendly and the location is super central.
Negative aspects
It seems as if there is no curriculum as to what content is taught at what level. So it depends very much on the teacher how the quality of the teaching turned out. In my case, the teacher was totally unprepared from my point of view, we were supposed to talk, were hardly made any improvements. He was super nice and the conversations with him were fun, it's just that there was a complete lack of structure and grammar wasn't his thing either. So overall, a 3 for "Die Akademie".

Other comments
It was a bit strange that the school had an online placement test (which also contains errors and is not really selective). My level has been proven to be between B2 and C1. It is not entirely okay that the school, without saying anything, then put me in an A2 course, which was the highest level that was offered. It would have been nice if I had known beforehand. There was a lack of transparency. It was okay in the end, I just repeated past tenses, ... . And you can practice speaking at any level, but, as I said, I would just like to know that beforehand.

All 4 participants of the study group would have liked more (everyday) conversation. The main focus was on grammar. The small classroom had poor acoustics and no cooling during the first three days. At over 30 degrees is was not very pleasant. After that, luckily there was a fan.

Other comments
Despite the unanimous realisation of all 7 German-speaking course participants that there were sometimes considerable discrepancies in language levels (from participants who just completed an A1 course in the same school to 3 B1 level students who spoke fluent Spanish with the teacher), the school declined the participants' request to divide the group according to their levels, although this possibility was always offered as an option in the preliminary assessment. That was a cheek, so the school did not deliver in this regard.

Positive aspects of school
I was able to switch from one class to another without any problems. I got along very well and benefited a lot. For me everything was tip top, I would have liked to have more role plays, I had no idea, had never been in an intensive language school, but would do it again immediately. It is a successful introduction to a language, only then you should be able to continue. The lesson with the owner of the school was the best, Nieves had a very profound knowledge of grammar, had to put up with criticism, but countered it well. After that there was silence and everyone was satisfied.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
I noticed that most of the participants do not want to learn grammar. They misjudge the necessity of the grammar of a language and think, if they can only speak, but how? Participants should also learn after school, maybe do translations. Spanish is not so hard at first but later it can be quite tricky. Also with pronunciation you have to practice again and again.
Other comments
The school is well located. It would be nice if we as a class, which we have not done, e.g. 2 h would have gone outside and e.g. ask for directions or / and we should have described at the sea the way etc.. The price-performance ratio has been very good.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
In my case, I did not find the division into the learning group entirely satisfactory, as I felt partially underchallenged. The problem was that there were only 2 classes at that time and thus my learning level could not be covered. But repetition does not hurt either.

The first week was ok, though it would have been great to have more focus on speaking the language than doing text exercises. But the second week, there was no class for us, because we did not fit into either of the levels. Basic or high level. So I had to wait until Tuesday to have lessons. And the teacher was unprepared and showed no enthusiasm at all. Friday we ended up with another teacher. She was good, but it was a very confusing week, I feel my money was wasted :(

There was always the possibility and flexibility to take individual classes due to a lack of students, although a course was booked.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
One should insist to know if a course will actually take place. Otherwise it can happen that you have to take individual classes. This has benefits in terms of the learning effect on the one hand, if on the other hand you don't want to come to school every day for an hour only, it costs more. Although this is clear from the start, it was not clear that there would be no course.
Other comments
Advertised accessibility does not exist. While this did not affect me, because I have no physical handicap, a wheelchair user had to be carried up and down the stairs on a daily basis.

Classrooms in the basement, very dark, no placement test, therefore wrong group composition, time-wasting audiobooks with 10 min music droning, unpleasant automatically triggering room spray every 30 minutes. Teachers were unprepared and copy during the lessons. No homework, noticably little motivation

Classrooms in the basement are unacceptable (bad exposure to light, ventilation, cellar smell). Documents and media are outdated. Poor organization of teachers. They go unprepared to class, then have to copy in between ... Carmen once left us wait endlessly after the CD was finished.

Unfortunately, I assumed when someone is German and ants to learn Spanish a German-speaking teacher would be available. Unfortunately, there were only English-speaking teachers in the two weeks I have been there. Luckily, I know a little English! But I did not understand everything as good as if I would have had a German-speaking teacher. Too bad! :-( But otherwise nice and easy teachers!
