Institut Européen de FrançaisMontpellier, France

French courses at this language school can not be booked on our site. The information is provided in order to orient our visitors about the complete range of language course options available in Montpellier.

Location: Institut Européen de Français is a French language school in the city of Montpellier. The city is in the south of France and just 10km from the Mediterranean Sea. The school is centrally located in Montpellier, with restaurants, supermarkets and shops scattered throughout the neighbourhood and is not far from the main attractions of the city.

Local attractions:The Musée Fabre is the city’s prominent art museum with paintings, ceramics and sculptures dating back to the 1800s. This museum is 10 minutes by foot from the school entrance and for those wanting to continue on with an art theme, close to the Musée Fabre, students can visit the Pavillon Populaire, a photography museum, and Espace Dominique Bagouet, a regional art museum. One of the most visually impressive sights to see in the city is the Arc de Triomphe, which extends into the Promenade du Peyrou leading to the Saint-Clément Aqueduct, a bi-level arched aqueduct created in the 18th century. This grand display of the city's historic influence in the region is a pleasant 5 minute stroll from Institut Européen de Français. The oldest botanical garden in France resides in Montpellier and is well worth a visit. Jardin des plantes de Montpellier as it is known to locals is a few minutes further away from the Arc de Triomphe, so very accessible by foot from the school. Opposite the Botanical Gardens is the Montpellier Cathedral which was designed in a Gothic style of architecture. It is very easy to find all the city’s gems by exploring the city by foot. Montpellier welcomes a mediterranean climate and visitors often visit the unspoilt beaches of the area. 30 minutes by car find you at the Carnon Plage Beach whos coast line includes Palavas Beach and La Grande Motto. These picturesque, sandy beaches are a great way to cool down in the hot summer months.

School facilities: Institut Européen de Français spans over two beautiful mansions, with spacious and bright classrooms to motivate students learning. The teachers are all qualified professionals whose aim is to provide structured and informative material as well as create a fun and interactive environment.

Course structure: There are various courses on offer aside from the general French courses including French for teachers, French for those wanting to further their education in a University, Professional French tweaked for the business world, exam preparation courses for DELF or DALF exams and French combined with an internship for 1 - 3 months.

Other comments After a written placement test which is taken at home, a decision is made as to which course you will be assigned to, but there is no assessment based on oral language proficiency, which meant that we were relatively heterogeneous in terms of language proficiency in the course.
