Faro ratings & opinions
How our students rated their experience in Faro
What our students said about Faro
Nice, manageable regional capital; a pleasant place to live. Relaxation begins on the ferry to the beach... City centre very nice, pleasant to go out in the evening. Culturally interesting, partly with beautiful architecture; however, some side streets still have potential for urban development. The public transport system could also be improved.
Germany
Faro has a few places of interest (churches, old town, etc.), a wide choice of restaurants, several very long beaches outside the city that can only be reached by ferry, bus or car, a large nearby nature reserve (lots of birds).
Germany
Faro is not directly on the sea and if you don't have a car, it's quite a hassle to explore tourist spots in the Algarve.
Austria
Faro is my dream destination: big enough to have plenty to offer, yet manageable and homely.
Germany
The school is well located, easy to access. The staff are super friendly and accommodating
Canada
Good destination, maybe I would avoid the summer because it is too touristy.
Spain
Due to a train strike I had difficulties in getting to Faro for several days
Germany
A nice little town, I missed the park as it is being renovated.
Austria
As good as Malaga, my usual go-to city/beach destination.
England UK
What school directors said about Faro
Faro is an ideal destination for students who wish to discover the "real” side of Portugal. The city offers history and culture set in a relaxing environment, on the shore of Ria Formosa, while having the whole of the Algarve to be easily explored.

At the time of my participation, my group and the parallel groups were small (less than 5 participants). The exchange during the breaks and after the lessons even took place across groups, including with the teachers. I had never experienced this before and I thought it was excellent.

Cial uses one approach in their teaching, so you can switch schools without falling behind in the course. The teacher was good and very knowledgeable and kept our individual learning needs in mind. The school does her utmost best to help you out.
They go pretty slow through the course materials. Just 3 chapters a week, everything will explained up to six times and I had to read the same course materials 2 or 3 times in class. The are pretty much on the clock. Not a minute overtime during the classes. A big difference with Fast Forward in Porto. If you have the basic knowledge and are keen to learn grammar, then Cial's teaching is pretty slow.
