Las Palmas ratings & opinions
How our students rated their experience in Las Palmas
What our students said about Las Palmas
It's not a city you have to visit. But even if it is not a beautiful city, there are some nice places. Public transport is cheap, reliable and available all over the place - even to the south. Las Palmas has beautiful beaches and a great, warm sea. Temperatures are fairly constant at around 25°C, but even on hotter days a more or less strong wind provides cooling.
Germany
Las Palmas is not a beautiful city at first glance, but it does tend to grow on you. We were there in August, which is very humid, and it might be more pleasant in winter. The old city of Triana and Vegueta has considerable charm. We found the locals very friendly and tolerant of out attempts to learn the language.
Australia
Las Palmas is a nice city with lots of activities and a beautiful beach. As a woman I always felt safe, even at night. There are clubs, bars, restaurants, a beautiful old town and the rest of the island is easy to reach from Las Palmas.
Germany
Not a city for party people. But great for lying on the beach or hiking in nature all year round. Top public transport and an exceptionally safe city.
Austria
A really interesting city and diverse enough for a long stay. Very convenient location to explore all of the amazing island from.

What school directors said about Las Palmas
According to the climatologist Thomas Whitmore of Syracuse University, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the city with the best climate in the world. The average temperature throughout the year is a very comfortable 21 degrees Celcius. Water sports can be practiced all year round. This cosmopolitan city has for centuries been a bridge between America and Europe. The character of the beautiful colonial buildings lining the narrow streets of its historical centre Vegueta gives faith of the legacy of its maritime history.

Very capable and nice teachers who made me, as someone who didn't speak Spanish, want to learn the language. Good varied lessons, and small exploration units in the city, in the market hall and museum, combined with small solvable tasks. I liked it very much!

I really liked the activity day at the end of the week. However, after a one-week stay, I don't know how often the activities are repeated, given several weeks of learning at the school. The teacher made a well-trained impression, she knew what she was doing. It was fun to learn with her.
Furthermore, it seemed to be common to go to a café together with the teacher/teacher during the break. I found this a very nice approach, that newcomers or those travelling alone can integrate or make contacts more quickly. All in all, I really enjoyed my visit to this school, so I can imagine studying there for a longer period of time.

Course: Standard Intensive 20 - 1 week

I have been to many Spanish language schools in many places. Unfortunately, often only for one week. This was also the case here, unfortunately. Initially, I was a little shocked by the extra fee to be paid for the teaching material that was announced. That would certainly be a considerable extra charge for the one week and yet just another marginally used textbook at home in the cupboard.... . However, I was able to borrow the book on site for the one week. The price was reasonable. I found the level of the school to be very good. The level of the class members was appropriate. The rooms were pleasant and appropriate, and the location in the Triana district was very good. Our teacher was simply top!

Super lessons. Very competent and friendly teachers. The lessons are a bit demanding if you don't have any previous knowledge, but you can learn so much more in return.

The teachers seem absolutely enthusiastic about what they do and are in a great mood every day. Their positive energy ensures motivation and fun in class. Most of the lessons are held in Spanish, and unknown words are first explained in Spanish. At least that is the case in the A2 course. Small groups and joint breaks, which are used to practise speaking! Much emphasis on speaking, writing is practised less. Homework, variety of teaching methods...
