What our students said about Turin

5.0

Rating: 5/5

The school is right in the center. Very close to very good restaurant. There is also an information sheet in the school. The pedestrian zone starts right around the corner. From there, you can explore many sights on foot. I myself have been to the opera, to various plays and to the cinema. There are still really big cinemas there, which has screenings already at 4 pm. I already speak Italian well and have explored and seen a lot. There are interesting markets all over Turin, with the Porta Palazzo market being the best. Especially the farmers' market, where fresh products from the area are offered, and the market hall (Mercato centrale) right next to it, where you can choose raw products that are then prepared directly. There are various excursions organized by the school. I went to the Langhe with them. It's a wine-growing area around Alba. Beautiful area. There was a wine tasting with typical small dishes from the area. Very, very good. It also included a city tour in Alba with a visit to a hazelnut factory. There you could try differently prepared hazelnuts and products made from hazelnuts and see the production process. It was very nice, too.

Nice city, generally clean, well structured with lots of bars and restaurants well distributed in the city. Beautiful churches and castles to visit! Fine clothing stores. Italians are not very sympathetic, dry, without empathy towards others! Should not need information!

Very convenient city but less tourist then Rome or Milan. I really enjoy the atmosphere. Just an hour away from Milan if you take the flight. And it's very close to the mountain area if you like hiking and skiing.

Exciting, interesting history, lively and open. Also: noisy, smoggy, chaotic sometimes. A big city with big city facilities and big city problems. I like that, but you may not. Mountains in the background: great.

A very interesting city, with many historical monuments from the Savoyard era, large squares, lots of entertainment in the streets, good restaurants not excessively expensive and markets and shops of all kinds.

What school directors said about Turin

Rosaria Costanzo

Turin, Italy's first capital, is surprisingly rich in art and culture. Strategically positioned between the Alps and the seaside, it is far from mass-tourism.

Rosaria CostanzoDirector of L'Italiano Porticando Srl, lives in Turin since 1997

Most recent student reviews of language schools in Turin

L'Italiano Porticando Srl

I am delighted. Everything was perfect. I can only recommend this school. The teachers are of an exceptionally high standard, directly overqualified for a language school, but this benefits the students. Well-balanced lessons - a good mix of speaking, listening and grammar. I made great progress and the guided excursions with Laura were first class. The secretary's office responds to all requests. I would very much like to come back.

Scuola Leonardo da Vinci

Super teacher (Alessio), interesting lessons, good, digital equipment (however, was temporarily accommodated at the Abbey School with the course as the courses at the main location were fully booked).
Offer the guided tour on different topics rather for certain level. Otherwise, some people don't understand so much and ask the same-speakers in their mother tongue to translate. It's a bit of an unfortunate situation. This is my third course. Rome and Turin are at the top of my list.

Incredibly warm atmosphere. I felt immediately welcomed, as if I had been there for the umpteenth time. The lessons start at 9.30 am and are very relaxed. There were only four of us in the course and the teacher was very patient with us :-) The classroom was air-conditioned, which was great at 36 degrees, but not a given with the current electricity prices. There was something for everyone at the afternoon events. A great, somehow almost familiar school with very 'colourful', diverse, international students!

FAQ about schools in Turin

  • If you already studied some Italian we always recommend that you take the level test offered (online in advance or in school on the first day depending on the school) to make sure that you are placed in the right group. You might know more than you think, and if not the school will place you in a beginners group. Just make sure you pick a start date when a beginners course starts.
