How we create the points regarding what we like/dislike about a school

Location: For a perfect way to enjoy the coastlines and culture of the French Riviera, opt for a language course with Azurlingua - situated neatly in the heart of Nice. The school can be found midway between the Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas de Nice and Basilique Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, and is very central in the Quartier des Musiciens neighbourhood.

Public Transportation: Just up the road from the school is the Nice-Ville train station, whose line follows the Mediterranean coast line. The Alsace-Lorrain tram station, Line two, is a 7-minute walk from Azurlingua and connects to various popular attractions in Nice. The prime location of the school means that the majority of features of the city are within walking distance, and there is plenty of activity in the surrounding streets.

Course selection: Azurlingua caters to adults, teenagers and scholar groups throughout the year and each course is distinctly designed to meet every student's level in the French language, as well as their age. All packages offer social programmes, extracurricular activities, and a large selection of accommodation to suit your specific needs.

Teaching style: Azurlingua takes an extra step in ensuring that programmes are adaptable: crafted in a tailor-made fashion that applies to each group. At the school, you can expect to touch base with content that was constructed within the Common European Framework for Languages and vows to teach the French language efficiently, whilst developing your skills in speaking as well as writing. With Azurlingua, students gain expert-taught knowledge in French that enables you to effectively use the language in real-life situations.

Additional information: Upon completion of your course, you’ll be awarded a certificate recognised by the Council of Europe (ECTS).

Student opinions about Azurlingua, ecole de langues, Nice

Liked
It had free Internet Access and Wireless Internet in the hole building. Three teachers: Thierry, Genève and Sophie. They were really good. Furthermore you could find a "Monoprix"(like Tesco in the UK) near the school. And of course my host-family. I had a very nice old lady. She spoke to me for hours in French. She was really good (Madame Aimeur).
Insider tips about what future students should not miss Don´t go to the very first part/meeting. It was really boring. If you really want to learn French look for other internal students who have the same intention. Go to Monaco(great cars) and Grasse(cheap parfums) with the bus (only 1,30 Euro).

Other comments The school was nothing special. It was appr. 15-20 minutes away from the beach and the city center. I had three really good teachers. The others were average. If you feel that you are underloaded change immediately the class. Moreover in the last week we didn´t have any internet access because the responsible for it was on holiday. Something about Nice: A very nice city during the day in the near future. A very long tramway it's getting built in Nice. That is why the MAIN public transport line will not functioning until the end of 2007. Furthermore there is much dog poop in Nice so pay attention. Almost every bar is closed after 2 AM and after 3 AM there are really few people/nobody on the streets so don´t go alone then.

The teachers were really good, they explained things easily and you could always talk to them, during the course as well as in our free time. The school is located very good, not far from anything
Disliked
Although it is located very well, the area where the school is located is really rough. Girls can´t go out alone at night!

The teachers were excellent and encouraging, they used engaging materials and focused mostly on conversation which I found very helpful and that matched my study goals.
Disliked
I participated in one outing in Nice, and I don't feel it was well organised, there has been some confusion and uncertainty about what was happening, however, I heard from the other students that the outings out of Nice were enjoyable and better organised.

Other comments I was placed in a group that was below my level , it was ok to revise but not to learn anything. I did not ask for a change because the director advised on the first day that the level had to be demonstrated through the work in class; that's what I did and it was evident to everyone, teacher and classmates, but they did not change me to another group. At Alianza Francesa La Plata I was given a higher certificate.

In this case it wasn't so bad because we only had one time in the afternoon. But it should have been communicated in advance.

The rest are not so well organized. First of all, I made payments via bank transfer but staff did not contact me until after I asked about it. Secondly, the host family arrangement was complicated, I was given information on two different families at two different points. While the second family did not reply, the school did not contact me either. I eventually went to the first family, which worked out well on a personal level. Thirdly, there was only one after school activity on the first Friday afternoon (to Monaco), it was very well conducted. My second week there on Monday morning, a trip for Cannes was posted for the Friday but the posting was removed by Tuesday morning and changed to Villefrance-Sur-Mer, no one signed up for it. Maybe the advertisement was not done well? The three classrooms I had been into were all very cluttered with too many desks and chairs. They are poorly arranged, and in room 8, the whiteboard and the computer monitor were at two different ends of the room, very difficult to maneuver in-between. The eating area was also strangely put together. There was only one microwave on a wobbly table, which easily gets fluids spilled, and there was no kitchen facility. The washroom constantly lacks paper towel.

Quality of teaching / language progress: I did not judge the activities, because due to the Covid-19 one could or should only have fun with restrictions. In addition, the school had to make certain adjustments due to the protection concept, which also affected the lessons in some cases (wearing masks, connected online students)
Other comments The school went to great lengths and managed to ensure good classroom teaching despite the difficult conditions (coronavirus). The classrooms are rather small.

Quality of teaching / language progress: I booked the wrong course. School is definitely great for young people, but it's difficult for older people, it's just about learning, otherwise there is nothing. You have to go to reception yourself and find out more. But if you don't even know what is possible, then you can't get information. E.g. public transport - I lost a day until I got my bearings. Etc. Sure, that's not the job of the school, but you get the feeling that they've never been to a strange city themselves

Questions and answers about Azurlingua, ecole de langues

  • The French Programs are available year-round and you can start any Monday if you are not a complete beginner. As for the Tennis Program, I am afraid this option is available in the summer only.
Eric Chiarbonello, from Azurlingua, ecole de langues - Mar 17, 2022
  • The price of the Family Program includes 20 lessons per week for 1 adult + 1 child. In your case, as you are travelling with 2 children, you have to pay an additional fee for the other student. Please let us know what your preferred dates are and we will send more information.
    Ana Carolina, LanguageCourse.net - Apr 04, 2022
  • If everything it’s ok between the teacher and the student we are trying to keep the same teacher..
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 25, 2022
  • The teachers also speak English but focus on communicating in French during the lesson. Even from a simple level, French is spoken as much as possible and communication works surprisingly well. In this way you will learn as much as possible in a short time. If you get stuck, you can also ask in English.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 25, 2022
  • Unfortunately, once the room and the course have been confirmed and you are on site, according to the school's terms and conditions there is no refund for an earlier return. The other option is to book 12 weeks first and then extend for another 4 weeks, but we cannot guarantee that you will then get a place in the student residence for September. The dormitory was fully booked this summer and autumn. If you are flexible about the accommodation, you are welcome to extend it on site.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 24, 2022
  • The student residence is rented on a weekly basis. You can move in a day earlier, i.e. on Saturday. If you want to move in several days earlier, then you have to book a whole extra week. We recommend that if you arrive in Nice earlier, you organize your own room before you can move into the residence.
    Florent, from Azurlingua - Nov 24, 2022

  • The junior course has a package price. The fee can't be reduced but you don't have to get the transfer if you are not interested.
    Angela Ligartova, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 29, 2022
  • All the parking around the school are pretty expensive and even on the street you will have to pay. You can use the parking at the train station.
Florent, Inscription Team from Azurlingua - Dec 12, 2022
  • At the Azurlingua, ecole de langues there are only groups up to B2 level, not higher, for the requested period. From C1 only private lessons are offered, because on the one hand there are few students to be able to form groups at the high level and on the other hand the language skills are so different that you benefit best from private lessons.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 12, 2023
    • It could be possible but the mother and the kid will not have the same timetable because the adult course finishes at different hours than the junior programme. She will have a course in the morning one day and the other day - in the afternoon.
Sean Librati , Enrolment and Accommodation from Azurlingua - Jun 22, 2023
    • There is a laundry service close to the school.

FAQ about Azurlingua, ecole de langues,

  • Students can't choose morning or afternoon lessons. They will be placed with the right group according to their level. The school usually has alternating schedules for adult courses (one day morning lessons, next day afternoon lessons etc.)
Carolane Levy, Reservation and Accommodation department. from Azurlingua, ecole de langues - Feb 13, 2020
  • There is no air conditioning at the Azurlingua juniors centres, only at the main school. All the juniors are redirected to the main school at the end of August and will have their lessons there.
    Florent , from Azurlingua - Aug 02, 2022
  • The school can only offer double rooms in homestay. They can offer accommodation for students who attend the course.
Eric, Admissions Officer from Azurlingua - Feb 21, 2023
  • The 30 plus courses are offered during the summer months (June, July, August). Students can start any Monday if they speak some French. The beginner starting dates are listed on the website. Students can register for the 30 plus course, however if the school won't receive enough bookings for the course they will be placed in a mixed age group. The average age is: 22 -28 years.

  • Students are expected at the school on the first day at 8:40.
Angela Ligartova, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - May 16, 2023
  • Students travel alone to the school and back to the host family, however, as there are two students in the same room they can travel together. All host families live in safe areas and have experience in hosting students. Using public transport is easy as well. It might take up to 20-30 minutes to get to the school (walking distance) or a few minutes by public transport.

Angela Ligartova, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 02, 2023
  • If you are not sure about the length I recommend you book a course for a few weeks first as it's not possible to cancel the remaining weeks once the course has started but you can always extend the course at the school or you can get in touch with us as we'll help you.
Angela Ligartova, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 20, 2023
  • Yes, there is an exclusive discount that only applies when booking online here.
