Passport requirements


All nationals require a valid passport.

Only excemption are nationals of the following countries who may also present an alternative document of identification instead of a passport: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

Who does not require a visa?
Nationals of the following countries do not require a visa when entering as a tourist:

Required documents for visa application
Tourist Visa:
  • Application form
  • 1 Passport-size photo
  • Valid passport with 1 full blank page
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for stay
1) Student: a) Full medical insurance to cover period of stay. b) Letter from Italian university addressed to the Italian Consulate General confirming acceptance of the application, explaining details of the course (duration, programme etc). c) Letter of reference from UK university confirming applicant's status. 2) Proof of accommodation. 3) Proof of occupation.

Validity of Visa
  • Tourist Visa: 90 days.
  • Student Visa: 90 days.

Costs of Visa
  • Student Visa: 60 EUR
Short-stay: (for up to 30 days) / (for over 30 days). Note: Spouses and children of EU nationals and nationals of some other countriescan obtain a visa free of charge on presentation of relevant documentation.
