Passport requirements


All nationals require a valid passport.

Only excemption are nationals of the following countries who may also present an alternative document of identification instead of a passport: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland.


Above mentioned: in possession of valid national ID card who are visiting as tourists for stays of up to 3 months. Nationals of Germany in possession of a passport that expired within the last year. Nationals of Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland in possession of a passport that expired within the last 5 years.

Who does not require a visa?
Nationals of the following countries do not require a visa when entering as a tourist:


Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, North Korea, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela.


Citizens of countries who are visa-exempt must still apply for an entry or transit visa before proceeding to Malta.
