Passport requirements

All nationals require a valid passport.


Only excemption are nationals of the following countries who may also present an alternative document of identification instead of a passport: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.


Mentioned validity: beyond the planned stay. The requested validity and precise requirements of the passport may vary according to nationality.

Who does not require a visa?
Nationals of the following countries do not require a visa when entering as a tourist:


Andorra, Anguilla, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Denmark, El Salvador, Falkland Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Montserrat, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, North Korea, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, Saint Helena, San Marino, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, US Virgin Islands, Vatican City, Venezuela.


Children of any age holding a valid passport will require a visa.

Tourist Visa:
  • Application form
  • Passport-size photo
  • Valid passport with 1 full blank page
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for stay
  • Proff of purpose of visit
  • Visa fee payment
  • Insurance
Student: Legalised police certificate from country where applicant has lived for five years or more, confirming the absence of a police record, if studying in Spain for longer than 6 months. Confirmed accommodation. Formal itinerary, supplied by travel agent or airline

  • Tourist Visa: 90 days.

Costs of Visa
  • Tourist Visa: 23 / 28 / 32 / 46 EUR
Short-stay: 30 days / 90 days (single-entry) / 90 days (multiple entries), / one year (multiple-entry). A uniform type of visa, the Schengen visa, is issued for tourist and private visits. All visas are subject to an administrative fee. NOTE: A Schengen visa will be issued free of charge to the spouse and children of an EU national, upon presentation of the original marriage or birth certificate and a valid EU passport. For children, original full birth certificates are required. Visa exemptions apply for school children visiting Spain as part of an organised school trip, accompanied by a teacher.
