Location: Galway Cultural Institute (GCI) is an educational institution located in the Irish city of Galway, on the Republic of Ireland's west coast. Housed within 50m of the beach and the Atlantic Ocean, GCI has excellent views of the surrounding coastline. The school is within walking distance of several restaurants, eateries, a bank, a casino, and attractions such as the Seaport Leisure Amusement Park, the National Aquarium of Ireland and the Omniplex Cinema.
School facilities: Galway Cultural Insitute has modern, bright and spacious classrooms, many of which have ocean views. They also have a library, an on-site cafe, a computer lab, free WIFI and a Student Support Desk (Reception).
Course selection: The school provides English programmes for students of all ages and various necessities. In addition to General English, Galway Cultural Institute also provides courses in Exam Preparation (PET, FCE, CAE, IELTS), English for Professionals, Teacher Training and Professional Business Certificates.
Getting around: The school is housed in central Salthill, around a 10-minute train or 30-minute walk from central Galway. Surrounding the school is an expansive beach, the Galway Atlantaquaria, Grattan Beach and several eateries. Dublin International Airport (DUB) is around a 3-hour bus journey or a 140-minute drive from the school.
Accommodation: Accommodation can be booked through the school in homestays with local families and in residential. The residential accommodation is generally around Galway City and within a 30-minute journey of the school via public transport.

“Organization is definitely the strong point; the classes are never too large which allows for very personalized teaching. The blackboards are state-of-the-art and the online materials are also very useful. The professors are all very knowledgeable and friendly. One is well taken care of at all times, from the first day during the welcome to the last with the farewell ceremony.”
“It is located a little bit far from the center and the cafe present inside is a little bit expensive, there should be more conventions for students. The cheaper accommodations are not the best, the cheaper ones are closer to the school but they are not checked properly, the common areas were dirty.”

“Very well-organised school with super-friendly staff, which I would book again at any time! Clean, friendly and modern building with a reception area, cafeteria, offices, common room, library, classrooms spread over 3 floors, a lift and plenty of toilets. Bright, very well-equipped classrooms, some with sea views (or views of Galway Bay). There were sofas in the corridors on each floor where you could comfortably spend your lunch break chatting with other students.
My teachers were always very well prepared and always made the lessons interesting and lively, but at the same time they also showed consideration for students who didn't understand something, for example. Each student had their own textbook, which was supplemented with copies and additional material if necessary. Pens and writing pads were provided on the first day at the welcome meeting. There is also an online student portal where you can read or work on things yourself.
All the staff were friendly and happy to talk to the students, not only about school matters but also when it came to information about Galway, bus connections, excursions etc. I felt really welcome and warmly welcomed at GCI.
