Positive aspects of school
"Enthusiastic teachers. Location close to public transportation. Several nationalities in the class. Small class (10 students)."
Negative aspects
"The emphasis was very much on conversation. Perhaps people thought at level B2 that you know all the grammar, but I would have liked some repetition with "rows" on the board. We didn't get a lot of "lessons" because of that. It was mainly taking text, film, interview and then trying to understand with your classmates in varying compositions."

Positive aspects of school
"The staff (95% female) is friendly, willing and close. The method and the teachers make the classes enjoyable, and the time passes almost without realising it. It can be said that many times it is more fun than work, both for students and teachers."
Negative aspects
"There are days when the groups are too big for the type of activity in the classrooms, and sometimes the homogeneity in the level of the students is not balanced. The registration fee is charged even to former students if it has been more than a year since the previous one, I find it disappointing especially because the price of the school is higher than in other schools. In a world that seeks equality, the incorporation of both sexes should be favoured."

"It would be great if the inscription fee were free for former students."

City/place
"Despite being a large city, the centre can be walked if there is time and desire, because an hour of walking is usual. It is quite safe, but the general appearance of the centre is chaotic, messy and dirty, something that in the neighbourhoods is not so pronounced. It is a pleasant destination, not too expensive if you know how to look outside the tourist area, and the number of activities and places to visit are endless. The worst of all is the tremendous tourist overcrowding that invades the central area and the most emblematic monuments, but you can always look for interesting places not so popular and therefore quieter and many of them free."
Quality of teaching / language progress
"School with a very pleasant method that makes the time pass quickly and pleasantly."
Accommodation
"The accommodation was fine in general, the apartment is comfortable and close to the school. It has only a small kitchen table as a common place, which makes it look more like a pension than a shared apartment, as it does not encourage communication between tenants. Worst of all, in the bathroom the toilet lid is broken, and the bathtub has no curtains or screen, causing the floor to get wet in every shower. It is very close to the school in the San Lorenzo neighbourhood, where the university atmosphere is very lively and fun."

"Very nice and kind host family! She cooked wonderfully and dinner together was always a pleasure. She cooked various specialities from all over Italy and so I also got to know Italy better from a culinary point of view. We talked a lot at dinner and I was able to practise my Italian and she was also very patient. Everything was very clean and tidy! A large room with a big and comfortable bed. I can only highly recommend the Signora!"

Positive aspects of school
"I liked the café and the composition of the courses, which are made up of many different nationalities."
Negative aspects
"I didn't like the lessons because of the method. After ten days of Italian lessons, I am not able to form simple sentences. The grammar was taught inadequately and there were no corrections or discussions of texts. Partner work with someone who is also unfamiliar with the language is superfluous and a waste of time, and the rooms were too small and the sanitary facilities were an absolute imposition."

Positive aspects of school
"After a disastrous start in the first two weeks, the lessons with Federica were a conciliatory conclusion. She was well prepared and structured. She responded very well to our concerns. The varied lessons were fun."
Negative aspects
"In my group (A1), in my opinion, far too little attention was paid to the needs of the students. We were beginners with major problems understanding the texts and although I pointed this out several times, it was not taken into consideration. The listening examples were also far too difficult for most of us. Written texts were not corrected, although this was requested. There was also no homework."

Positive aspects of school
"The teachers (almost all of them are women) are very nice and concerned about each individual student. In general, the classes are enjoyable and communicative skills are acquired in a short time."
Negative aspects
"The worst thing about the teaching method is that there is hardly any writing, so if you have to take an exam afterwards that part is a bit weak. There are usually too many students in the classes and the chairs are not very comfortable."
Details of the review
City/place
"In general, the city is dirty and looks neglected, which is common in many Italian cities. Otherwise, I found it quite pleasant and safe for a big city. Of course, it is worth visiting things despite the rivers of people in almost every part of the city centre."
Accommodation
"The location is quite good and the neighbourhood has a lot of student life and is quite cheap compared to the centre. The worst thing about the flat is the very old kitchen, but the rooms are comfortable and spacious, although the tables are a bit small for studying, and it is better to use the large kitchen table."

I was also at a good level. Not too difficult, but not too easy either. "Parlare, parlare, parlare. Finally, a course that isn't a course. A lot of speaking changes the way you use the language. Be sure to take part in the afternoon activities and aperitivo. Everyone at the school is really friendly, whether it's the teachers, the secretary, the director or the club."
Negative aspects
"The speakers for the listening texts are sometimes not of the best quality. The teaching part with repeating texts is strange, but it is only a small part."

"Super nice, enthusiastic teachers, many young students (but there is also a great community of older ones!!), varied lessons where you talk a lot and have fun. Well air-conditioned, nice afternoon activities, good flats and a great location very close to Termini. I enjoyed my time extremely!"
Negative aspects
"In all the audios/videos only men were mentioned in my case! Not really bad, but I would have liked a more balanced gender ratio:) My flat was not so well connected and my flatmates were unfortunately quite dirty, but the neighbourhood was really nice!"

Positive aspects of school
"I will start with good things: the location is great, facilities, office staff are very nice and helpful and the activities are great. However, my ultimate favourite thing was the bar. Food at school was amazing, very tasty and well priced. Unfortunately, I was not happy with the quality of teaching. The method they use just does not work for everyone. If you like structure and to learn basic things at the beginning then this school is not for you! I was in the A1 group. The teacher should have taught us basic things like: an alphabet, how to introduce yourself, how to say I, you, she, he, we, they. We were repeating some conversation without understanding the words (or seeing the words, just repeating from listening) or repeating phone conversations. That was extremely pointless at that stage when I just want to know basic things. I would not have a conversation on the phone with anybody when I am just starting to learn Italian. But it would be nice to know how to say: ''Hi, How are you?'', ''I would like to order....'', and ''Can I have a bill?''. I spoke with few teachers about my concerns but I was just told to have a faith in the method. I paid for two weeks but lasted a week and half. In my second week, I just lost all hope that they will teach me properly and I left. Also, some teachers have a bit of attitude. I had a very unpleasant incident with one teacher and that just cemented my decision to leave. If I can't even ask a question, what is the point to stay? I feel that I chose the wrong school and that I just wasted 2 weeks and a lot of money. Probably, I would learn more by myself by just watching videos on Youtube. P.S. I speak 3 languages so I know how it is in different schools."

"My teacher did not explain the new grammar, even though people said they did not know what he was talking about. At the same time it was frustrating because I could not read ahead on my own since he did not say what grammar we would study the next day. You should know another latin language since it´s not allowed to speak English even though you are a beginner. My teacher explained things in many ways in Italian. If you are from China for example that does not help."

The group lesson are a little bit repetitive (listening, acting, practising) but they are good and it is amazing to share the class with so many different cultures (German, Spanish, Korean, Turkish, French, Swedish, Mexican, English...). I spent a very good time with the students outside the school. The individual lessons are very good because you progress faster than during the group ones. Combined classes are ideal to progress."

"In my case I had Italian lessons, courses for the official CILS exam and practices in tourism company. Having done a Master in Organization and Management of Events, I told the person in charge of the internship course I'd like to do my practices in that department or in a travel agency. He offered me to do them in a tiny hotel or in a travel agency (there were not more options). I chose the hotel, with the intention of organizing the events. In summary, I spent the entire month as a waitress in the restaurant, a little bit in the reception (as it was so small that only one person fitted in the reception and he could not almost teach me anything) and I was almost a babysitter for the children's birthday parties (events). The principal from the school is friend of the owner of the hotel. The hotel treated me well, the problem is the school's principal, he promises things and then he does not fulfill them just to keep the money that you paid for the course."

"If you are the type of person that learns from a very structured- by the book method, you might get a bit frustrated by the program at Dilit. But if you are one of those who is willling to go with the flow and challenge yourself, I definitely recommend Dilit. Also, wonder about the school activities; the ones I went to were great; unfortunately, they get cancelled if there are not many people, so if you don't want to miss out, ADVERTISE them on school with everyone you see! It worked for us:)"

Positive aspects of school
"Participating in an advanced-level-course, I found it particularly helpful that emphasis was put on making the students speak among themselves - rather than only with the teacher. Moreover, the staff at the school were extremely helpful and friendly. A friend of mine lost his purse and the school willingly lent him some money."

"I took a homecooking class, which was fairly expensive (80 € for three hours), but good value nevertheless: the cooking was good, we had some wine and it was an excellent opportunity to practise one's Italian."

Positive aspects of school
"I loved the international environment of the school. It was full of students from all over the world, and once in a higher level, italian was the language of communication between the students as well (rather than english, which was great for learning). There are also possibilities to meet Italians who are learning English in the school, so some free practice! The teachers were absolutely awesome, all well trained and very entertaining. One negative thing might be that the curiculum is rather repetitive, so be prepared for some boredom if you go to classes for more than 2 months. However, the standard of teaching is outstanding, and would definitely recommend this school to everyone!!"

Positive aspects of school
"Other Students! Excellent group of people. The Instructors were quite nice too. The location of the school was pretty good and convenient as well."
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
"It is better to start the school on a week where new course start instead of a random week. It provides a better chance of meeting people and making friends, since there are a lot of new students who are looking to meet others on those days."

"The housing options should be evaluated better. The housing offered to me had only 1 bathroom for 6 people!! It makes it very difficult in the mornings since everybody is rushing to go to school at the same time. About the school- the level of students should also be evaluated better. Many of the students were placed at a lower or higher level instead of the right one. The test given on the first day is not good enough to judge properly, it should be replaced with a better one."
