Positive aspects of school
Super nice teachers, small classes. Listening comprehension was greatly improved.
Quality of teaching / language progress
The individual lesson is very worthwhile!
Accommodation
It would be very important for the school to maintain closer contact with the host families, and a minimum level of hygiene and facilities should be guaranteed. It would also be nice if you could find out something about the host in advance, e.g. single, family with children, pets, etc.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Location is great, teachers are very enthusiastic and friendly. Good combination of grammar and conversation. You learn best by speaking Spanish. I cannot rate activities and excursions because I did not participate in them. There was a lot on offer.
Negative aspects
Actually nothing, but I can imagine that it gets very hot there in the summer. The room where I was taught does not have air conditioning. Toilets are Spanish-style but not dirty or anything.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
No.
Other comments
Nice atmosphere, nice people. Good mix of student types too. Ages in my class range from 18 to 75.
City/place
Very worthwhile.
Quality of teaching / language progress
It's quite tough, (of course) only Spanish is spoken and spoken quickly. You really have to have a certain level to participate.

Unfortunately far too many tourists. You come to Spain to learn Spanish and then eventually only hear English, possibly Dutch and German. Too bad ☹️

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The teachers were very nice, clear, interesting.
Negative aspects
Far too small a group, only 3 in total. Little offer to the institute. No common first evening. Linking with other groups. Few offers. Little sense of belonging, inside or in and bonding.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
CAC at Center Pompidou. And the beaches of El Palo.
Other comments
Don't think I'll do it again.
City/place
Great place, very nice. Good museums, friendly people, super tasty food, beautiful beaches, easy to reach by bus, nice vintage shops, great mercado, top.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Too small group, too much grammar, but very nice teachers.
Accommodation
The apartment was absolutely fine. Cozy everything you need. Lots of space, all good. Just thought it was very cold. Quite a distance from school. There was no bus going there and I actually wanted a shared apartment. But it turned out absolutely perfect.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Very good intensive lessons. Excellent and also sympathetic teachers. Individual lessons or very small groups. Very good price-performance ratio. Central location in the old town of Málaga.
Negative aspects
Sometimes I would like more repetition of what I have learned rather than new material all the time. With six or seven lessons, I would prefer two breaks of 30 minutes each, but that is probably difficult to organise.
Other comments
Apparently, major changes are in the offing - sale and possible relocation of the school. I would hope that the current spirit, the offer, the value for money will be maintained and that the teachers will remain loyal to the school.
City/place
Málaga is one of my favourite cities all over the world, although not in the unbearably hot high summer. In recent years, however, it has become increasingly crowded, and it is striking that more than half of the flats in the old town are occupied not by locals but by Airbnb (&Co) customers. I say that as part of the problem. If you include the places Pedregalejo, El Palo and El Dedo, which are within walking distance, in your Málaga experience, you will find a great place by the sea.
Quality of teaching / language progress
We'd love to come back next year - even though Academia CILE seems to be facing quite significant changes.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The lessons in small groups were particularly good. My group usually consisted of 3 students, and sometimes there were only two of us. In regard to the learning method, I liked that a grammar topic was covered in the mornings and that this grammar topic was deepened in the afternoons by choosing a conversation topic.
Negative aspects
Since there are fewer students, a new course does not start every week. That's why we started in the middle of the topics.
City/place
A very lively and culturally interesting city
Accommodation
The accommodation was very central in terms of location and the school was also within walking distance. The 4 floor without elevator saves the fitness centre. The flat was clean. Despite being on the 4th floor, we were surprised by typical Spanish cucarachas in the kitchen, which could be controlled with regular spraying. The rooms were clean but had been used several times. With a full occupancy of 6 people, the common area would probably have been a bit small.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The teachers were great, I really learned Spanish. The location of the school was excellent just in the historic centre. Our group was really small 2-3 persons, and partially because of this the teaching was so effective.
Negative aspects
The building itself was old and didn’t have air conditioning, it got quite hot inside, and the noise from street disturbed every now and then.
City/place
Very many interesting museums. The beach was nice and nereby there are interesting places to go. It’s easy to get a bus or train to Granada, Nerja, Caminito del Rey etc.
Accommodation
My room in the shared appartment was tiny and there was no air conditioning. It really got hot! The first couple of days there was an inconvenience, two students left our kitchen very dirty and we had cockroaches. When these students left and we cleaned the kitchen our life was much nicer.

Positive aspects of school
I think they normally have a lot of activities during the week. The first week that I was there they didn’t have a lot of activities. The second week they had more, but unfortunately I had made some appointments. I love that the school was in the center of Malaga. The teachers were great, but I felt I was in the wrong school. The course would have been perfect if my meaning was to learn a lot of grammar. I probably didn’t read the description of the course well enough?! Both of the yoga teachers were great.
Negative aspects
But my meaning was to talk more and better. Unfortunately I was in a class where the three other people were a lot better than me. The class below that level was far too easy for me. So I was between 2 levels and the lessons were too quick for my level. I don’t feel I have learned as much as I would have liked. Also, unfortunately, there was one USA guy who took a lot of attention from the teachers. Even after we had said it to him, he continued. The yoga combination I booked it with was very disappointing. There were only two different types I could use off. And the first week I tried both but the hata was too much for me, because I have a back injury. There was only restoring yoga which I could do. In the description it said they would have yin yoga and meditation as well, but there weren’t. Both teachers of the yoga very good. I could only do two lessons a week, and the second week only one because there was no more choice. But maybe I didn’t read it well enough and 2 a week was this what it was. I only expected to have more lessons.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Caminito del Rey.
Other comments
All the people that work there, I think they’re very nice.
City/place
I think everybody should go because it’s so beautiful, clean and there’s a lot of stuff to do.
Quality of teaching / language progress
I would not book another course with yoga again. I don’t think it was worth my money. Even though the teachers were great.
Accommodation
First I was in a shared apartment with three other boys. It was disgusting everything was really dirty. The shower, the kitchen and also my bedding inside the covers were disgusting. The light in the kitchen didn’t work, the washing machine didn’t work and there was only one stove of the four stoves that was working. I think I paid way, way too much money for this! I asked the school if I could change and that was very easily and perfectly arranged. This was a lot better, even great. I loved the lady, the house and the location. The first night I had a lot of screaming people outside my window, but the second night the lady changed her room with mine because of the noise. I think that’s so sweet!

Positive aspects of school
Very good and sympathetic teachers, great location in the centre
Negative aspects
I was only there for one week - the only activity offered was participation in a flamenco class, which didn't appeal to me. I only found out about the possibility of taking part in a meeting with other students through the poster - when it was unfortunately already too late.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
When staying in Málaga, don't limit yourself to the centre, but also walk to Pedregalejo, El Palo and El Dedo (the best). A wonderful route always along the sea.
City/place
This was my sixth time in Málaga and I will be back - I don't think I need to say more ;-)
Quality of teaching / language progress
I got individual lessons instead of group lessons and I certainly learned even more that way. That's why I didn't even insist on the additionally agreed individual lesson. All three teachers I had were excellent.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The location of the school was great. Lessons in small groups or alone. All the teachers and the director were very friendly.
Negative aspects
In weeks 1-3, not a single lesson started on time. This improved in week 4. I didn't like the teaching material. Except for the flamenco course, there was no opportunity to meet people through the school (especially since I was alone or with only 3 others in the class).
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
You should know that the "up to five yoga lessons per week" are not feasible. There are lessons at class time and 2 yoga lessons in quick succession on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition, there is 1x yoga class on Wed. I was actually having class on Tues and Thurs only. But the money was definitely worth it!
City/place
A small sweet town, which turns into a party mile in the evening. As a result, there is an increased smell of urine (thanks to some incontinent men) and rubbish in the small streets. Thanks to many cleaners, there is nothing to be seen of this the next morning. The beach and the harbour are very beautiful and were my second home in good weather (in February/March unfortunately a lot of rain and cooler than expected). The people working in Malaga are mostly very nice and most of them can talk to you well in English.
Quality of teaching / language progress
The yoga course is definitely recommended. The Hatha Yoga Tues & Thurs with the two nice yoga teachers was super demanding but also super nice. Both were very helpful when I didn't understand what exercise to do or how to do it exactly due to the language barrier.
Accommodation
Defective window (was not repaired after being asked several times), disco next door (not possible to sleep at the weekend despite earplugs), breakfast was poor (so I bought my own breakfast for 4 weeks), meals were not eaten together with the family but with other host students or alone. There was occasional smoking in the flat.

A very simple but okay breakfast. I was offered two slices of bread and 1 cup of coffee (not always full). Nothing to drink - had to ask for a glass of water. Lunch was always something warmed up in the micro, but it was nice to have fruit as dessert

Positive aspects of school
School is physically situated in a very beautiful old building in Malaga Center. Teachers were nice. The methods and facilities could be more modern. Me, as the beginner in Spanish, felt that the rhythm of the education lessons followed mostly those who had already learned more. There should be a starters’ group or the student should know some basics of the language beforehand. Anyway, all over the experience of short course was ok.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
If you go for a short course: learn some basics of the language before you go! Enjoy Malaga!
Other comments
When teachers used any kind of printed word lists and pictures, it helped to follow the theme (although my vocabulary was small). I highly recommend to use pre-prepared materials with word lists etc. to support the learning process of the students.

In the first week, I was in a group that did not match my level, which either nobody noticed or did not interest anyone. I had to take the initiative myself. The decor of the school and also the toilets was pretty "scrapped". We sat in the classroom in jackets because it was windy due to the leaky windows. It has a certain charm, but a little renovation would not hurt in my opinion.

Maria is an excellent language teacher.. Tamara is a very responsive and flexible oral teacher, Dolores is a lively Flamenco teacher. There is a good selection of trips and discounts for activities I like doing.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Come prepared to do homework to reinforce what is learnt in class. Malaga was colder and wetter than I expected so come with layers of warm clothes and boots. It's worth going to the cinema in town - good range of independent or thoughtful films, many in English with Spanish subtitles - good way to improve the language. Also lively and open music scene at Shakespeare pub, a great way to meet new people and socialise in Spanish.
Other comments
I think the teaching would benefit from role-play, acting out scenes to help expand vocabulary in context and apply grammatical structures.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The teachers were sympathetic, the location of the school perfect.
Negative aspects
I did not feel welcome. The first week's classroom was a disgrace, a storage room without window.
