The street food is the best you will find anywhere.

No specific arrangements were made for me to be taken to the airport so I was picked up by a taxi who asked for payment after I paid $70 for pre-arranged transport. That made me feel very uncomfortable.

The accommodations were just a couple of blocks (to the west) of an unsafe area

The quality of the food offered was very, very poor. We were served over cooked pasta and hot dog slices for dinner one night. Another night, it was a plate of shredded chicken with a few onions and two small squares of potatoes on it. Only once did we get anything fresh or any vegetables (sliced tomatoes and avocado). We were fed very cheaply.

I enjoyed the courtyard space and community feeling.

I loved being Javier's student. I thought it was interesting, conversational and fun, while also involving grammar and vocabulary. I would have liked to have the day broken up a bit more, with shifts. We had a 20 minute break in the 4 hour day. Perhaps changing teachers for the second half of the day, or changing the room, or activity would make it more interesting. Sitting in the same classroom for 4 hours with the same teacher is a bit long and unvaried.

Break is at the same as the other students, even when you have one-on-one sessions. Activities after school are great. The school is small. Very nice homestay family.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss

Difference between language progress between private lessons and group lessons is not very big. Moreover, my teacher was sometimes more concerned with her telephone than with me. Please note, there is a half an hour break included in the 3 hours of private lessons.

It would be nice if the attitude of some of the teachers was more professional.

The teachers and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. They are more than willing to help you out with other issues that you might be having on your travels.

Experience as much as you can! But just sitting in a cafe at the Zocalo and relaxing can be a great experience too!

All Fantastic. I really enjoyed my trips and classes. I would visit Solexico again.
