Very friendly staff. The level of knowledge is determined in advance in writing and verbally online. This means that the courses can start on day 1. Very good introduction on the 1st day.
Negative aspects
Course participants changed every week. In the first week I joined a group of 5 women who had already been learning in this group for 2-3 weeks. Due to the weekly change, it is hardly possible to build on skills that have just been acquired. I had booked an over 60s course on the assumption that the course would be offered for older people who learn at a slower pace. Three of the participants were between 23 and 35 years old. The school was so busy in the first week that my husband (beginner) had lessons in the morning and I (A2) in the afternoon. It wasn't so nice, but it was okay.
In my course, many participants and the teacher talked at the same time in the first week. During group work, people spoke too loudly, which made it very difficult for me to concentrate and - although my hearing was still OK - I could hardly understand my partner at times.

Trieste is a very beautiful, liveable city. Colourful and lively. Only the lack of greenery in the city and the large amounts of dog faeces everywhere deducted points.

Should remain an insider tip, as not yet overcrowded, still "normal" prices for meals, entrance fees etc.; public transport with excellent app for navigation and timetable.

The rooms with bathroom only had a window to the light well (no courtyard!), the rooms with shared bathroom probably only had windows to the street. All in all, the rooms are very bright. Self-catering is possible, but some things are unclear at the beginning: who buys what, e.g. toilet paper, soap, dishwasher tablets. Who takes out the rubbish and to where?

The teachers are excellent, definitely the best the school has to offer. They are very dedicated, polite, and high-level.
Negative aspects
The organization of the C Course in 2 weeks was terrible. The first week I only had classes with 1 student, who was clearly on the same level as me, which was great. The following week, new students arrived who were clearly at a lower level, could not understand the basics, and the subject taught was a repetition of the previous week. I asked the school to sort this out on the first day, and despite acknowledging the mistake, they didn't. Also, the individual class doesn't have a clear agenda, I had to determine the content of the class.

The language level of the students in my course was very diverse. I had problems understanding one student because of her very slurred and too fast speaking. My request to speak more slowly was only successful for a short time.

The kitchen was poorly kept clean by the flatmates, rubbish was not taken away. I did it twice, although no rubbish was produced by me.

I especially liked the very motivated teaching staff and the way they organised the lessons.

That the lessons took place in the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the
excursions in the morning. On the first excursion, we returned at 1 p.m. and it was really stressful to get to class at 2 p.m. on time. I therefore did not take part in any further excursions ( although these would have been interesting). (Travel time, food, etc.)

You can feel the historical past of the Austrian monarchy (buildings and squares), and at the same time life in the city simply oozes southern flair. I liked the city very much and felt very at home.

The school is very well organised and everyone, the teaching staff as well as the administration and leisure tutors, are very nice, helpful and competent. You never feel left alone. The teachers, in my case Virginia and Lara, made the lessons interesting and also with some humour and were very patient. The school, as well as the great Dorian on the excursions, were also very nice and accommodating to the older students.
Negative aspects
The only negative thing I found was that even if you choose a group course, if there are not enough participants, you can be assigned to a group of two or even to an individual course. Personally, I go on language trips not only to learn the language, but also to meet and experience other people.
It should therefore be possible to voluntarily choose a lower level.
Otherwise I would be missing an important part.

Very liveable and worth experiencing city, beautiful surroundings, especially as Slovenia, Ljubljana, Muggia, Grotta Gigante... and Venice are not so far away.

Both our grammar teacher Virginia and our conversation teacher Lara taught the lessons and the subject matter in an interesting way and with fun and humour as well as with patience.

I had two hours of grammar and two hours of speaking practice in Italian.
I was with a very friendly family and they also cooked deliciously.

They don't tell you what's around the school: restaurants, shops. They do not have agreements with any restaurants or stores.

Please make more coexistence between the students on Fridays some meetings between all of them.

Desks should be square not round. It's a juggler and you can't put your book and it doesn't have any drawer.

Poor communication prior to coming to the programme. I took the written and oral tests and then got an email saying I hadn't taken them. The person who responded to my emails was very nice but didn't seem to communicate well with the school or vice versa.

My host's home was immaculate and she was lovely. I loved having to speak Italian the whole time I was there. The only thing I didn't like was being fairly far away from the school. When I had a few breaks during the day between classes, the host's house was too far away so I couldn't just go and rest for a few hours before I went back to the programme.

Excellent instructors, great afternoon outings (4 stars only because some were cancelled due to low enrollment).
Negative aspects
First week was only 2 hours per day due to low enrollment. Second week added the 2 hours of conversation, which was outstanding. I asked to be able to join just the conversation for part of a third week, but was told there is no flexibility on payment -- I would have to pay for the full week (even though I am only in Trieste for 3 days). Disappointing, but otherwise the experience was very good

I think the implementation of courses 60 plus is very good. The interests are then roughly the same. I thought the excursions were good, if I went to a second course next year I might choose the variant without a program but in the same period and then take part in the leisure program depending on the circumstances (it might be the same excursions).

It is a great city. People are very friendly and there are many points of interest. In addition, it is very safe and the prices are acceptable. The most beautiful thing about the city, apart from the people, are the landscapes; the Adriatic Sea is extremely beautiful.

I learned very little in 4 weeks mostly because I simply didn't understand what was being said in Italian. I didn't even know when I was being asked a question in class let alone what the question might be. Pretty much a total waste of time and money trying to learn the Italian language for me.

I can highly recommend this school; their very enthusiastic management and the entire team of teachers are highly motivated, educated and in a position to teach the Italian language very well. In the future I will only book this school. A varied excursions and leisure program complete the learning experience perfectly. Here the student has the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge.

In Trieste, there are many events throughout the year, ranging from the well-known sailing regatta to many musical events. If you are interested, you should plan your language travel accordingly.

I also like the fact, that after the end of the course, the school offers the opportunity "to stay tuned" with the language via Skype. Here, too, the costs are moderate.
