The General English Intensive provides participants with four General English lessons every morning aiming to improve their spoken, written and receptive skills, delivered in a highly engaging and fully interactive manner. Additionally, students on the 30-lesson programme are offered two important lessons in the afternoon: these will enhance and extend academic skills, such as academic writing, reading and listening, not to mention presentation and note-taking skills.

This course helps students to build on their knowledge and command of English. It aims to improve the students in all areas of the English language: vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking.

In addition to using course books, teachers engage their students via a variety of authentic, interesting and topical materials and activities. Teachers encourage maximum participation in conversational and practical writing activities to motivate and enthuse students. General English offers flexible content where group needs are fully addressed, be they for personal, work-related, domestic or other goals.

Standard course delivered in an all-female classroom.

The Ladies Only course is designed around a variety of interesting topics. It will improve your skills in pronunciation, grammar, reading, writing and listening. The course design is adapted to the individual needs of all Express English College students, and teachers will combine a course book with other online tasks, activities and materials.

Super Intensive General English course to make the most of your time in Manchester.

The General English Super Intensive course adds a further two hours of general English every day, providing participants with six General English lessons every day aiming to improve their spoken, written, and receptive skills, together with two English for Academic Purposes lessons which will enhance academic skills such as academic writing, reading and listening, and presentation skills.

It includes GE lessons, 2 film making themed full-afternoon sessions each week,
general afternoon activities, 2 excursion options per week, all learning materials,
end of course certificate, course report and travel and medical insurance.


Residential accommodation also available for the same price.

It includes shared transfer service on Sundays between 10:00 and 17:00 from Manchester airport to accommodation. For arrivals and departures outside these days and times, students must book private airport transfer. Students under 13 must travel as an unaccompanied minor if they travel alone.

You may choose to work your way through a coursebook with your teacher or look at authentic materials connected to your work or study. Alternatively, the teachers can help you to improve your English by looking at specific topics and language areas which you bring to class or suggested by teachers.

The Business English course at Express English College gives you the skills you need to operate in today’s global English-speaking world through four specialist courses daily. General English course plus IELTS preparation lessons.

General English Super Intensive + IELTS combines four morning lessons of General English with two afternoon lessons aiming at developing those skills in reading, speaking, writing and listening needed by students aiming to take the IELTS examination. The IELTS test is essential for many students who need a good grade to take the next step in their careers or studies. IELTS is also a requirement for immigration to some English-speaking countries, including the UK, where it is one of the tests used for the Home Office’s Secure English Language Test (SELT).

This course is for those learners who want to prepare for IELTS examination. The course will help them to practice all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary for the exam. This course help students practise the techniques required to achieve their desired IELTS score.
Please note that the course fees do NOT include the IELTS exam fees. You will need to book the exam at an official exam centre.
