Location: Melbourne City College is well located right next to the Southern Cross Station, in the heart of Melbourne, making it an excellent base to explore the city. Course structure: Students can choose between the General English class in the morning, the afternoon class or English for an Academic purpose. The English for Academic purpose is for students who wish to pursue the language in a further academic pathway. The course consists of 20 group lessons a week learning techniques such as discussions of current affairs, designing presentations or writing essays and reports coupled with 5 hours of self study. This creates a learning style where students can reach their full potential. The ethos of all lessons at this school is for the student to develop life long skills in the English language that they can practise well after their time at Melbourne City College.

The general courses develop all aspects of the English language including speaking, pronunciation, listening, grammar, reading and writing. The focus is on improving your basic communication needs in everyday aspects of the English language. During your English course, you will be expected to participate as much as possible and work individually, in pairs and in groups as well as take part in whole class activities. This course is for all international students with non-English speaking backgrounds or English is not their first language and wish to improve their English language skills.

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course is designed for students who want to pursue further study in vocational education and training, gain extra academic English in higher education studies or who want to apply to a university in the future.
