Why Bursa? Bursa, a Turkish city lies on the foothill of 2,500m-high Mount Uludağ near the Sea of Marmara. The city is known for its mosques and historical sites that date from the early Ottoman Empire. It's nicknamed Green Bursa, because of its many parks and trees, as well as its beautiful mountain backdrop. Today, the modern and industrial Bursa is built around the mosques other sites from time as the first Ottoman capital. Even though it is quite built-up and somewhat chaotic, its durable Ottoman core and plentiful parks keep it remarkably placid in places.
