What our students said about Catania

5.0

Rating: 5/5

Catania is wonderful. There is so much to see and experience, the traditions, the cultural festivals, the food and the people are great. As a girl / woman, you feel uncomfortable and unsafe in some areas, especially at night. The traffic is also very chaotic and the city is quite noisy, but that describes Sicily very well and has its very own charm.

Catania is always worth a trip and if you want to get to know Catania properly, you must explore the city on foot and make wonderful excursions with the public buses or the Flix bus, e.g. to Palermo.

Very beautiful city worth seeing with a lot of history. Unfortunately with a lot of rubbish on the streets, chaotic traffic (but that is probably the problem of many Sicilian cities).

Historic centre is structurally very beautiful. Otherwise dirty, noisy, full of dog poop!

Information about Catania

Why Catania? Catania is the second largest city in Sicily and sits on the Eastern coast of the island. The city has an impressive backdrop view of the Sicilian volcano, Mount Etna, which has certainly had an influence on the aesthetics of the city . Sicily has been occupied by various different nations over the years and this is reflected in the feel of the city. There are Greek and Roman ruins to explore and a baroque style centre. There are plenty of restaurants to sample the local cuisine and a lively nightlife scene.
