Tours ratings & opinions
How our students rated their experience in Tours
What our students said about Tours
Tours was perfect as a city to live and study in. It's a medium-sized, student city so is quite lively with lots of activities available. From live shows to shopping to movie theatres, you name it. There's always something to do, and the public transport was easy to use to get around, especially with the tram line. The people were friendly, and the rivers were beautiful to walk along.
Canada
Lots of restaurants for tourists, lots of students, lots of (arrogant) French people who go out in groups and do not like to talk to strangers (like almost everywhere else), if you look for something posh for older people not much on offer. Nice river, but due to the heat it didn't have much water. Nice forest area around Indre, other than that unremarkable
Germany
Tours is a beautiful city, with an equally beautiful main square that invites you to linger and find tranquillity. In the evening, however, it is very lively. By the way, the most understandable, pure French is spoken in the Tours region - the right place for a language course.
Austria
Tours is a little bigger and busier than I expected, but many beautiful old buildings and lovely places to sit and have a drink or a coffee. Don't miss the Botanic Gardens!
It is considerably lacking in anything to do. The local pastime for both locals and tourists is alcohol consumption, so having fun without drinking is difficult.
Tours is a nice sized city, not too big, not too small. Easy to get around by foot.
I prefer small cities so Tours is an excellent place to live and study.
Australia
Tours is great but can be a bit loud at times in the center.

Everyone was always very kind and helpful. It was like a family atmosphere. Teachers, staff and the owner of the school included. I felt supported from the moment I arrived, and I was there for 12 weeks from Oct-Dec 2023.
Great, family-like atmosphere

Course: General French 20 - 2 weeks

Small classes. Teachers engage in adult education and adapt to the abilities of the students. Teaching materials are used to promote language comprehension and thus not to dully work off cloze texts.
19 August 2022
Course: General French 20 - 2 weeks
Student age: 56 years
Small school, small courses.
Home stay was ideal: warm and friendly family. It was also close to the train station so we could take easy day trips.
The only down side was that the numerous female Asian students often had strong accents and spoke very quietly and timidly, if at all.

5 September 2019
Course: General French 20 - 1 week
Student age: 19 years
The building is a lovely old rickety place in an excellent location. The constraints imposed by the building mean that more usual modern facilities are not easy to provide. I personally would not want it any other way, but I can imagine some students might find it unusual.
The staff went a very long way to tailor our course to our needs - first class. They were without exception charming, helpful and focused. We loved it.
There was one lack of communication that spoiled an otherwise perfect time: the details of the trip arranged for the final afternoon were not revealed to us until the day before, and we had already visited the places the trip was planned for. A pity, but nothing much to worry about.

Q&A - Questions and answers about Tours
- I am looking for a course for my 17-year-old daughter in Tours. She wants to join a course with adults and definitely not a junior course. Can you recommend something?“In Tours, we have a really exceptional school: Tours Langues. It accepts students from the age of 16 and, therefore, your daughter can also take part in the adult course. However, we recommend accommodation with a host family at this age. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 28, 2023Didn't find what you are looking for?Interested in a specific type of course?
