Location: Alexandria Institute rests in the capital of Greece, the ancient city of Athens.
Getting around: The school is in the borough of Nea Lonia which is 25 minutes by metro from the city centre. The closest metro to the school is just 1 minute from the main building and this metro line has stops close to all the top attractions of Athens including Acropolis of Athens, National Archaeological Museum and Parthenon. This neighbourhood has a lot to offer including local greek restaurants to sample the cuisine, traditional as well as commercial European shops and a big supermarket. Additionally to the metro station the school is close to Irakliou Avenue where there are plenty of bus stops that can connect you to the city.
Course structure: As Athens is one of the oldest cities in Europe, the school has created a programme that combines learning the Greek Language with immersing the students in the culture and history of this great city. The course is for a duration of two weeks and includes 20 lessons of Greek per week, a walking tour of Athens and all of the course material. On completion of the two week course, students will be rewarded with a meal in a local Greek Tavern by the school.
School environment: Alexandria Institute has a mixed age range of students attending their course, with half being over the age of 50. With a maximum class capacity of 8 students, it makes it easy for the teacher to adapt their teaching style to fit in with each student's individual learning preference. Their Greek teachers are trained to identify each student’s needs so that courses run at a pace and with a structure and a method which each student is comfortable with.
