Standard General English course Monday to Friday plus afternoon classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
On the Intensive English Course, you will follow the same programme as the Standard Course in the mornings. You will also have afternoon classes, in which you will have the opportunity to further improve your communicative proficiency through discussions, roleplays and topical debates.
Morning lessons are divided into two parts, usually taught by two different teachers (UK & Ireland). These lessons help to build your knowledge of the language, focusing primarily on helping you increase your vocabulary and improving your grammar so that you reach the levels of accuracy you need. Lessons also work on improving your overall communicative skills and fluency. Of course, you will also work on specific pronunciation difficulties and expand the range of language you use in real-life situations.
In the afternoons, you will practise and expand on the language you have learnt in the morning, with a strong focus on listening, reading, speaking and writing skills through discussions, role plays, video work and listening exercises. Depending on availability, there is also the possibility to study for an examination (IELTS, Cambridge FCE etc.) and practice key exam skills, or the Business English option will help you manage your language skills for work.
Afternoon lessons take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to allow you two afternoons per week to explore the city, or to take part in the school's social programme.
The Intensive English programme is perfect for students who are in a hurry to improve! CES's modern teaching methods and use of supplementary materials give you the best opportunity to build your language skills and maximise the benefits of the time you spend with the school.

The CES centres across Ireland and the UK have a strong teacher training focus with 3 schools being CELTA centres (Leeds, Edinburgh and Dublin). All centres have highly trained and experienced teachers who have been involved in the creation and delivering of many types of further development courses through the Comenius, Grundtvig, CIEP and Saxony-Anhalt programmes.
In addition, CES has excellent and carefully selected homestay accommodation and there is also the option of residential accommodation in most locations. The schools also have a comprehensive year round cultural and social programme. CES schools are members of EAQUALS and IALC. All teacher-training courses are eligible for Erasmus+ funding.
These courses take place over either one or two weeks in Dublin or the UK (Edinburgh, London, Leeds and Worthing). CES places strong emphasis on cooperation and collaborative learning. It is their belief that students learn much from engaging with their classmates, as well as engaging with the course content. Therefore, a lot of the course content encourages peer to peer tasks. The courses provide opportunities for discussion and the sharing of ideas with colleagues from different countries.
The aim of the course is to understand and deliver upon the practical needs of the participants, to ensure that the impact of the material covered is not gone in a week or two but is indeed sustainable. Everything covered in these courses is meant to be useful to the participants, who can then apply it to their own learners and classrooms.
CES Teacher Training courses are intended for English language teachers or teachers of other subjects who wish to refresh and expand their language skills and/or analyse, discuss and practice different teaching approaches and methods.

One of the best ways to learn more about English people is to opt for homestay or private home accommodation. Family life is informal and the people are welcoming, friendly and talkative, so you will have plenty of opportunities to practise your English. All homestays and private homes are carefully selected and visited regularly by CES staff to ensure consistently high standards.
CES Wimbledon homestays & private homes are located within a 30-45 minute travel time by foot, bus, train or tram. During the off-peak season there is a larger selection of homestays and private homes available within walking distance, however these cannot be guaranteed. Both homestay and private home accommodation include a light breakfast and the evening meal 7 days a week. Bed linen is included, as is access to laundry facilities - one wash per week. Students are advised the bring their own towels.
Once a suitable homestay or private home has been assigned to you, your details will be sent to the hosts and you should make contact with them to confirm your arrival time.
Homestay and Private Home Accommodation Difference:
Homestay: The hosts treat the student as a full member of the household, eating together and sharing the common living areas; no more than four students will be accommodated in homestay accommodation at any one time (homes accommodating more than four adult students are described as private home accommodation).
Private home accommodation: Accommodation in a private home is reserved for adult students only (over 18); more than four students may be accommodated in the home and there may be less direct contact with the host(s).
