Edinburgh School of EnglishEdinburgh, Scotland
City attractions: Edinburgh is a wonderful city to learn the English language. Scotland graces its visitors with moors, lochs and sweeping landscape that even the most avid hiker will not tire from. The city itself is drenched in history and has a gothic style to its architecture. The city centre is small and has all that you could need for a stay within its boundaries.
Location: Edinburgh School of English stands almost midway on the well known street Royal Mile, in the old town of the city. This represents the historical quarter of the capital, with Edinburgh Castle at the start and stretching almost a full mile to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Fitting in with the ethos of the area, the school itself sits in a 1820s building and the inside transforms into a modern layout, designed to create a perfect learning environment.
School facilities: The facilities of the school are ample, and students can enjoy the use of the library, movie rental provisions, a garden, a lounge, a student support desk, the printer and the free wifi.
Additional information: With 50 years of experience, you can put your learning in safe hands at Edinburgh School of English. The school is accredited by the British Council and is a member of English UK.
Junior packages: The school has junior programmes over the summer months under the title of Young Octorial Programme. The package is split into 2 age categories: 7-12 year olds and 13-17 year olds. There is a residential accommodation option for all age groups, mandatory for the 7-12 year olds who reside at the school, with the added option for the older students to fully immerse themselves after class in a local homestay.
Adult courses: The adult courses are for students 17 years of age and over and there is plenty to choose from. The group courses all include tasks that have a very practical and real life element to them, which can be applied outside the classroom. The general courses are taught to a high standard and there are exam preparation courses in IELTS as well as programmes for the Cambridge Exams. Refresher courses for teachers of primary and secondary level age groups can be taken at the school and specialised courses on Active Methodology and Content and Language Integrated Learning are available for those teaching in a secondary school or for adult learners. The teaching courses are for a duration of 1-2 weeks and have specific start dates throughout the year.
