Reviews by former students who attended a course in Berlin
Great teachers and good organisation
26 February 2024
Course: Intensive Course - Theory & Practice Course - 2 weeks
Student age: 54 years
The class was conducted with a small group, creating an engaging learning environment. The pace and organization were perfect, making it not only informative but also enjoyable to attend.
The teachers exhibited a high level of preparation, experience, and an ability to convey concepts in an easy-to-follow manner.
Furthermore, I was pleasantly surprised by the additional efforts made by the DID school to organize events that complement the language learning process. These extra activities enhance the overall learning experience and contribute to a more educational journey.
I want to express my sincere appreciation for your suggestion to join this school and I am thoroughly enjoying my time here.
The best school I attended so far

Course: Standard Course - 2 weeks

After attending some language courses in other schools, I enjoyed a lot my experience at BWS Germanlingua, Berlin. The school is not so big, then you can easily make friends and receive a personalized attention by the managers and teachers. Since the first day I realized that the school was very organized and that they were really concerned about your right placement and learning process. They provided us good support teaching material. The groups are always not big, that means I could improve a lot my skills on speaking, listening, writing and reading.
Staff are very friendly and helpful all the time.

There were no Russian-speaking students in my course, for me it is a plus, the group is very multinational, if you want to get to know each other and communicate, you will have to develop spoken German

Q&A - Questions and answers about Berlin

It is also possible to purchase a monthly ticket for around EUR 49 by downloading the DB app.
”Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 20, 2023I am looking for a German language trip for my daughter. We live in Kazakhstan. She learns German at school, level B1. She would like to learn German intensively in Germany in August.“Let us organize the perfect intensive course for your daughter! Please inform us about the desired starting date in August and the age of your daughter so that we can check the availability of the course and accommodation as soon as possible and send you detailed information.”Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Jun 19, 2023Is it possible to receive a group quote?“Yes, definitely. To do so, fill in the form on our website under 'Help & Contact' (top left) --> 'Group Discount'.”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.Net - May 31, 2023Can the group lesson schedule be adapted to certain times that suit me better?“We can normally find a course in the morning or afternoon for you, but if you have a very specific time schedule the best option might be private lessons, as these can be scheduled with more flexibility.”Louise Granath, LanguageCourse.Net - May 11, 2023Is it possible to stay in a host family close to the school?“At GLS, host families are 35 minutes by public transport from the school, while at DID it is 55 minutes by public transport on average. This is because most host families live outside the city and the schools are often in the city. The ratings of the host families at these two schools are incredibly good though!
GLS also has a studio flat as an option, which is 5 minutes away from the school, but is also more expensive of course. Is that maybe an idea?
You can see the schools on the map on our website. ”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.Net - May 09, 2023Is there any school which can guarantee that there will be no other students of my nationality in the same study group?“It is not possible to ensure that there are no other students of the same nationality in the group.
GLS - German Language School is a good choice because there is a good mix of nationalities from all over the world.”Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 21, 2023Which junior campus is located near the central station?“DID - Deutsch Institut offers a course for juniors with accommodation in Park Residence. This course takes place 10-minute walk from the central station.”Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 17, 2023I have 1 room available and would like to host one of your participants. Who should I contact?“If you would like to offer a room for language students, please contact the schools in Berlin directly.”Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 05, 2022I'm looking for a course for DaF teachers in Germany. I'm looking for new methodical and didactic ideas for my lessons.
Could you please recommend schools where such courses are held?“The DID in Berlin offers a teacher training course with the following content:
- Standard Course 20
- 4 extra lessons with class attendance
- 2 lessons with topics specifically for teachers
- the program includes 2 activities per week and weekend excursions (entrance fees not included)”Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 25, 2022How long does it take to go from an A1 level to a B2 in German?
“It is normally said that it takes 8 weeks of Intensive course to go from an A1 to a B2, but it is also possible by doing 6 weeks of a Super Intensive Course (full day classes), of course it might take sligthly longer to do it with a Standard Course (half day).”Ángel Marcos Portoles, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 25, 2022My current German level is A1 and I would like to reach the B1 level before going to University. Can I book a course and start any Monday?“The school offers group lessons for all levels, starting every month. Just let us know if you have any preferences regarding the start date and we will send more information about the programmes and their respective schedules.”Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 14, 2022I am looking for a German language course for our daughter, who will be 17 years old, who will be taking a gap year. I also want to know what the group composition is in terms of age. I've clicked on campus now, but maybe that's not a good idea? And can you do other hobbies in addition to the language to learn the language in a playful way?“How nice to read that your daughter is going to take a gap year in Berlin. She's must definitely be looking forward to that!
The most enjoyed German course is the intensive 20 lessons per week course. In this type of course she has lessons from Monday to Friday, usually in the mornings between 09:00-13:00.
Each school has a different average age. We can look at this per school. For example, GLS is a very good option (average age between 19-24 years old) and they also have the campus accommodation.
Campus accommodation is nice for younger students as it is usually close to school (whether or not next to the school) and with other students from the school, so it'll be fun quickly!
In Berlin, combination courses are also offered with horse riding and tennis, unfortunately not with dance. However, I can imagine that if she has found a good school, they will certainly have recommendations for a possible dance course at another organisation.
I also recommend a host family if you want to experience a complete immersion in the country and its culture. If you book including half board or full board, you can even practice your language at the table with the host family.”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.net - Feb 03, 2022FAQ about courses in Berlin
