Location: Select English Cambridge is located in the historic English city of Cambridge, on the River Cam, in eastern England. The school is on Hills Road, where students have supermarkets, eateries and a direct route to Cambridge train station, within walking distance. Several of the city's attractions are also in the area, with the Cambridge University Botanic Garden and the Fitzwilliam Museum, both a moment's walk away. Students are well situated to be able to enjoy all that the city has to offer. Attractions such as Cambridge Market Square, the University Museum of Zoology, and several parks and spaces along the River Cam, are all within a 20-minute walk of the school.
Course selection: Select English Cambridge provides high-quality English tuition for students of all ages and levels. In addition to General English programmes taught over various schedules and intensities, the school gives numerous specific learning programmes. For adults, or students aged 16+, there are Exam Preparation courses (IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE) and fully immersive residential summer programmes (age restrictions apply). For junior students, Select English Cambridge offers a range of immersive summer courses, with various options for accommodation in residence or homestay.
Getting around: The train to Central London is around 45 minutes from Cambridge train station and runs every 30 minutes, 7 days a week. The school is also close to bus routes and is very much within walking distance of many of the city's sites of interest.

English classes in the mornings plus IELTS preparation in the afternoons.
Select English have a long history of teaching IELTS to international students who plan to go on to further academic studies in the UK or who simply want to demonstrate their ability through the exam, which is an internationally recognised qualification.
Students on General English courses are able to choose the option of studying IELTS (International English Language Testing System) during their afternoon classes (this is subject to there being a minimum of 6 students with the right level of English for an exam class). Also, students should have at least an intermediate level of English to start the IELTS course.

Price per person
Homestays are carefully selected by the school's Accommodation Officer. Host families can be young or old, single or married; they may or may not have children. Most homestays are 3-5km from the school, approx. 30 to 45 minutes travel by bus. Hosts are fully inspected and monitored through student feedback. They receive regular visits from the Accommodation Officer. Once you have been placed you in a homestay, you will receive the family profile.
LIFE IN A HOMESTAY
Students will be accommodated in single rooms. If you are travelling with a friend you can request to be accommodated in the same homestay at the time of booking.
SHOWERS/BATHS
All students will be able to shower or bath at least once a day. Their host will show them how to use the shower. Note that bathrooms are normally shared with the host.
MEALS
- Breakfast and dinner are provided. Breakfast will normally be a choice of cereal, toast, fruit juice and tea or coffee
- Dinner is generally served between 17.30 and 18.00, but homestays will advise the definite time
- Lunch is not provided and students will need to buy lunch from one of the many shops, cafes or restaurants near the school
GETTING TO SCHOOL
Homestays will advise the best way to get to school from their home. In most cases, students will take the bus. The homestay will point out the bus stop. Students can buy a weekly bus ticket called a “Megarider” from the bus driver. The cost is around £15.00 per week for unlimited travel around Cambridge.
LAUNDRY
The homestay will do one level basket of washing for you per week. They will advise the laundry day.
CLEANING
The host family will keep the house clean and tidy and will clean your room once a week and wash the bed linens. Students need to bring their own bath towel.
TELEPHONE USE
Homestays will not normally allow students to use their telephone.
In most cases Select English aims to keep students under 18 separate from over 18s in homestays. In cases where friends of different ages are travelling together and wish to be accommodated together, a request must be made in writing by the agent or parents of the students concerned.
