Location: Weymouth English Centre is a junior summer school located on the Jurassic Coast of southwestern England. This impressive seaside town is unique, offering students many attractions and sites of interest in addition to natural features such as several beaches, a subtropical garden, bird-watching sites and places of interest, country parks, water gardens and more. The school is housed within Weymouth College, a 5-minute walk from the beach and a 10-minute walk from the town centre. There are many amenities, eateries, links to public transport and attractions nearby.
Getting around: Weymouth is around a 3-hour journey from London and has regular trains leaving to and from the English capital throughout the day. The school is within a 13-minute walk of Weymouth train station, permitting trips to Southampton, Poole, Bournemouth, Exeter and London.
Course selection: Weymouth English Centre's coastal location makes it perfect for providing junior summer programmes with various activities. The area surrounding Weymouth is full of outstanding natural beauty and green spaces, but it also has the sea, allowing for a diverse range of activities for junior students of various interests. These junior programmes take place during the summer months and include English & Activities, English & Sailing, English & Windsurfing and English & Outdoor Adventure.
Social and cultural: Each immersive junior summer programme includes four evening activities and one full-day trip per week. Afternoon activities can include sports such as basketball, football, cricket, volleyball, swimming and field games, escape dungeons, dance workshops, martial arts workshops and more. Evening activities may include pizza nights, fashion shows, discos, film nights, beach games and more.

The schools 'English & Activities' package includes tuition, homestay, a full programme of activities in the afternoons and evenings, a half-day trip on Wednesday and a full-day trip on Saturday. Students have the possibility to make their own choices from a variety of sports, games, cultural events, excursions and other activities.
This English course has 15 full hours of lessons each week from elementary level up to advanced. This includes the written and oral test, needs analysis and induction on the first day. Lessons are usually from 09.00 to 12.30 with a total break time of 30 minutes but they may occasionally take place in the afternoon from 13.30 to 17.00 with a total break time of 30 minutes.
The main objectives of the lessons are to improve your communication skills, expand your vocabulary and develop your fluency, accuracy and confidence in using the language in everyday situations. There is a lot of speaking and listening in the lessons but we also cover vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading and writing. You will learn and practise English in a meaningful, memorable and enjoyable way.

On the Outdoor Adventure course you will follow the English & Activities programme except that from Tuesday to Friday afternoons you will go to various fantastic locations in Portland and enjoy activities including Kayaking, Climbing, Paddle Boarding and Mountain Biking with the help of experienced instructors. You will participate in the activities with all other students on Monday afternoon, 4 evenings and also go on the full-day excursion on Saturday. As this is a one-week programme, for our minimum stay of two weeks, it needs to be combined with one or more of our other courses.

The sailing tuition is for 3 hours on 4 afternoons from Tuesday to Friday each week. You will learn sailing in English.
If the weather is too windy, other activities will be arranged.
Sailing lessons take place at the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre in Portland Harbour which was the venue for the sailing events in the 2012 Olympics.
This course can be booked for a minimum of one week but only in combination with our other courses to have a minimum stay of two weeks.
